Not a fungus at all! Dutchman's Pipe is a non-chlorophyll producing plant. Uses the plant roots nearby to feed itself. As far as I've been able to tell.

Regardless of what or where they copied, this is like 15 seconds of a song and not a main riff. It’s a bridge to the solo, that’s all. This the four horseman and we all know there is a larger debate on that song(at least between Mustaine and Metallica)about the main riff anyway. This is a throwaway part of the song. It’s a case of “if you look hard enough, you will find what you are looking for.”
