Where is the blockage located in her body exactly? I’m so sorry this is happening. I watch all your videos at least a few times, as my Quaker enjoys seeing and hearing your flock (as do I). Skye is such a sweet Quaker and I know how special she is to you. Is there anything that can be done to remove the blockage?

It's in her intestines.. Surgery on a small parrot for this is impossible.. You have to cut out the ribs to get to it. Thanks for your support .... love your flock

Yeah a big blockage. But we used some meds & she was OK for a week. Overnight everything stopped again.

poor kid. i hope she can get better. skye looks like she's miserable. your other quaker's sound like mine at bedtime. i say nite'nite and my qp coco gets it crossed up as bye-bye. takes a moment for him to get on the right track. they can be like a 5 yr old kid. i also tell them "daddy loves you". my qp is talking to your bunch again. we're on opposite sides of the globe but i feel for you and skye. i know how i would feel in that situation with my own. my jenday conure of 18 yrs passed away last october. he didn't show signs of being ill until it was too late. that hit me way harder and "cut deeper" than i thought it would. i miss him. your doing a great job with your parrot rescue and treat your birds right.

Thank you.. you can tell she's not moving... It doesn't look good. With Ryder he's always come back from health issues. I've never delt with anyone or any pet with life threatening issues. So I don't know how I will cope. I'll try to keep in mind how happy she was, and how good a life I gave her.

these little guys adapt to their disability. i see this conure with one foot. i bet he can move and do like the others. how did he adapt at feeding time? these little guys deserve love like any other pet bird.

how can anyone abandon these "baby birds"? if your not going to care for them, DON'T GET THEM. they are a lifetime commitment 20-40 yrs and beyond and love. my quaker and green-cheek conure are in the 20% of a lifetime home and love and attention from me. they are my buddies to the end and beyond. as a senior citizen, they are a lot of company to me and fun. we have our little camaraderie everyday and enjoy each other. my retirement has allowed them to be out of their cages for the full day and back in the same at bedtime. they love that. if i pass away, my son would take them in as they know him and they would be ok with each other. they would grieve over me but being with my son they would be ok. yes, they remember people, other pet birds that have passed away as well as dogs and cats they were around. they have a great memory for having a brain about the size of a bean.sometimes they have "selective memory" like their human. i love them to the moon and back.

i'm glad to see that skye is doing better. she is enjoying the "mommy" attention she is getting now. she is lucky. most birds won't show signs of illness until it is too late. hopefully, skye will continue to improve. quakers are a hardy bunch of birds. even though you and i are on 2 separate sides of the globe( me in USA and you in Australia ) i care and it's never to easy to see these little guys sick. i would be like you in that regard. i wish you both good luck. p.s.---- my quaker,coco, is talking to skye when playing your video. gotta love'em

@@roadmaster720 actually, since they grew up in different homes. They all seem to have different languages & don't understand each other. Like people from different countries. But they are speaking human English less, and I'm hearing all sorts of new squeaks and sounds. They might be developing a new way to communicate with each other.

@@neatnancy8824 i've noticed my 2 parrots sometimes don't talk to some quakers or conures on yt videos. probably a different language as you have said. your doing a great job rescuing these "baby birds". people don't think when getting these birds that is a big commitment to make. bird ends up being rehomed and bounced around.

@roadmaster720 it's not just the people buying babies. I put most blame on breeders & sellers. They give NO info when selling birds.. I love that you know about the preservation reflex... How they can pretend to be OK. She was doing well but going downhill again.

My blue had issues with her first egg. Also keep safflower seeds away from them. The seeds can cause liver damage in Quakers. I hope Skye is home soon and feeling better.

Sorry to hear about your quakers issues. Luckily Skye's eggs came easily. Though I've never heard of safflower seeds being dangerous... Unless you mean the same way sunflower seeds can cause fatty liver because they are too fatty.

I came across this video... I do hope your burby baby is better soon. I know how much love they provide. Sadly, I lost my Santino 3 weeks ago. I miss his screech when I would return from being out for the afternoon. (We have a farm, so being out is nothing new) I miss his whistling back and forth. His games he liked to play. His beautiful, and huge, personality. I miss him beyond words. I will say a prayer for your little one. Hoping she gets better soon.

Certainly it was considered whether or not egg bound.. & hopefully not a tumor. Hope Skye gets better soon! Didn't even know a blue quaker exists.. beautiful!

Wow you've never seen a blue quaker? I haven't seen white or yellow in real life. But here in Australia they've bred sooo many quakers.. blues are everywhere. I also thought it may have been an egg. But you might be right about the tumor. Or some kind of growth.. or just unnatural material she has swallowed.

Metals come up really bright in xrays.. This is probably not metal. Possibly some unnatural material & possibly built up a hard calcium casing.

what's wrong with skype? i hope for a good outcome. my qp is 21 now, in good health, and mellowed out in his old age. if he wound up in a birdy hospital, i'd be as you are wondering about his care.

@@neatnancy8824 my QP coco, has been with me since he was weaned from hand feeding ~ 4 mths old. he was a wild card in his youth with my family and friends and now mellowed but still love to aggravate me. as a senior citizen now, coco, his green cheek conure buddy ( they are close and together most of the day cuddled up ) and one 10 yr old parakeet are a lot of company to me everyday.

Right... most metals are toxic to birds... silver, gold & stainless steel are safe (unless swallowed) We won't know what the lump is until we can do an autopsy.

Haha.. the story is that my brother moved in with his cat.... His cat attacks kitty. So we kept her upstairs for 2 years.. I was there sometimes, but mostly she was alone... Finally she gets freedom

I tried all his tricks. The issue was kitty is old, slow, arthritic, not many teeth and bad claws. The other cat was young, fast, strong & vicous .. Kitty was badly injured so many times. It wasn't worth risking it ... To be fair... upstairs is quite nice with an outdoor balcony.. Better than some homes cats live in. But I totally agree with all the negative comments. Thanks for your concern.

I know... I tried, the other cat is young, fast & strong.... Kitty was injured many times and often injuries became infected. My brothers cat was hard to contain as people were always opening doors and letting her out. I appreciate your concern.

@@neatnancy8824 Hm. My younger active cat dominated my older chill cat, so don't know. But I never got problem from scratch infections or anything like that ever. Probably because they never tried to truly kill each other. Oh welp. Good luck.

@svenstefansson4022 ah right... kitty would have scratches on her that I wasn't too worried about. But after a few days her face would swell up, her eyes were swollen shut. After a fight the amount of fur ripped off was scary. And kitty can't defend her self without teeth or good claws.

Hi. I'm use to you having quakers and I've never seen any other animals. Are you a foster for these other birds, or is this poor Macaw yours? That must have been so scary to see his wound open like that! I probably would have panicked.
