if it's a city-owned trash can, they will replace it for free (it's usually included in your water bill). Just call the trash people, leave the broken out and they will take it on trash day, leaving the new one.

@@JRScar-dq1ex we had some crazy rains yesterday. It was leaking from the glass inside and ruined all my sheetrock. I took it all apart, there's no way for water to drain on the outside in heavy rain so I drilled a couple of drain holes at the bottom of the opening. I also took the inside frame around the glass off and reinstalled with silicone. I didn't see any original seals between the door and the glass, I put this door in over the summer

Great idea! I have an indoor kitchen trashcan that is probably 10 years old or more so no chance of finding a replacement lid, even then it didn't cover the trash well at all. I might try to make a new lid out of an old tote, or even an old coroplast sign. Thanks again for the inspiration!
