Great build. Perfect conversion in a country where fuel is cheap(ish). In Europe you would go broke. If you gone so far why not change the bumpy leaf spring setup to coils from the donor discovery.

That is awesome. With no large manufacturer doing On30 Porters now, have a printed version available as a kit could be a big seller. It sure might wake up the hobby suppliers.

Thanks, I designed it with the non-commercial version of Fusion 360 so I can’t sell it for profit. However I’m retired and don’t really care about the money part so I plan to just provide the files for free on Thingyverse sometime soon. I’ve refined it quite a bit since this video and it looks quite a bit better now. I would say probably a little more realistic than the Bachmann version. Keep watching for an update video where you will see my layout progress and the latest of the Porter

Looks great, and the layout looks to coming along nicely too. On the locomotive - what did you use for the running gear and mechanism? Did you 3D-print those as well, or use an existing mechanism?
@edbittner480

Thanks, I designed and printed the running gear as well. Designing running gear that works well was the hardest part of the whole project.

Thanks. Hopefully, by the time I finish it, it Will be a more accurate representation of the prototype. I hope to share the STL files so that everybody can make one of their own if they have a 3-D printer.

I had a S.3, Station Wagon fitted with a Holden, GM, 253 V8. In Australia. It had the standard gear boxes & a Fairey overdrive. It was heaps of fun, got great gas mileage & plenty of go. It would sit on, no joke, 70 mph all day. It had a 2" twin exhaust, sounded great. Minuses, wrong torque for steep off road tracks & registration charges got too expensive. Sold it on after a couple of years,but, fun car. cheers.

Thanks. I used the stock gears in the transfer case. It worked out nicely with the five speed NV4500 and disco 3 difs. At 2,200 RPM, I cruise at around 65 mph

Thank for the videos. I have a couple of questions for you. The first is how does the carburetor work off road at steep angles? The second question is on your previous ACR engine you used SU carburetors. Are there some benefits to using SU carburetors?

Well almost completed the project. Maiden voyage yesterday. I followed your example somewhat. New galvanized chassis, Ashcroft R380 5 speed, Discovery II axles, Tom Woods drive shafts, parabolic springs, Old Man shocks, Defender seats, Paint and Coach works completed in base coat /clear coat, Brainard Classics, RT 8, Colebrook, CT. I left the 2.25 engine as stock.

Hi. I like what you are doing/have done to your landie. One question… what did you end up doing with your old 2.25 motor? I have a series 1 that I am restoring and do not have a motor. If you still have it perhaps we could chat?

This turned out phenomenal! I've always wanted to see my design in black and gold! :) Love some of the changes you made as well, I can tell there are slight body shape changes, but it still captures the essence of what I was going for. Also, you are the first to notice that it was an amalgamation of common guitar designs into one. Thank you for crediting me for the original, but you definitely made this your own and I love it. Cheers mate!
