Oh my God! You make life so very difficult, Tyger: I cannot choose which of your pilot friends flying style I love most: "Condors" or this wonderful "Albatros"! It's a real dilemma!! Both are flying fantastic and beautiful!! I had some similar issues with too high tail gain on my OMPHOBBY M4 Max. But much less intensive. It lasted only very short and appeared mainly when I was flying fast against stronger wind and turning away from the wind direction. In my case reducing the gain 7 points was the solution. Unbelievable how much damage to the flight performance and in longterm the tail servo too much tail gain can do! Please tell both your friends I love them both and admire their skills. I hope one day in the far future I will get close to their beautiful flying!! No problem, I am only 63 years old! Loooots of life 9and training) in front of me!! :D Cheers!

The first episode of hopefully very many was a real joy to watch and to listen to your voiceover explanations. Uncle Bob flies just wonderful and what you said about taking off reminds a bit the taxiing of a fullsize helicopter at a busy airfield. I just wonder if landing our beauties with a very small autorotation is not too risky for a new pilot like me? I am worried that I dont get my love down smooth enough due to dumb collective pitch control? Stupid question: What's the resaon for hitting throttle hold before her sitting nicely on the ground?

If you would rather land first then use throttle hold thats fine. The only advantage with using if is it does tip on landing there no drive to the blades so hopefully less damage. But it is a personnel thing and neither way is more correct than the other.

@@Bob-Condor Thank you Bob! I am flying on a "natural" field with very uneven (not flat) surface. So I always check first it the heli "sits" leveled on the ground, if not I just pick it up again and "search" for another, better place. So I will continue my "method" because once you hit throttle hold you have to land on a perfect place as there is no real chance to pick the heli again. I will not feel "second class" :D Thanks!

I'd like to know how an rc helicopter pilot "improved" when going from FB to FBL system? Is it just a "slightly more locked in feeling? Or...is it truly a game changer where you can now do something like control inverted backwards flight or piro flips. That you could never do before FB? I was able to do everything short of piroflips with my trex500 FB with med/high headspeed and well tuned head. Ofcourse, my FB was set for max response and minimal delay/stability. The opposite for a beginner. I had superlight KB paddles and also my tx was set to max cyclic pitch and min stick throw. I flew until 2013 and I saw a few of my field buddies try to upgrade their gyro's from FB to FBL and rigid head. They never impressed me with any quantum leap of skills except their ability to spend and crash. I always noticed everyone would have at least a half dozen early crashes due to incorrect FBL setup. I have to thank them for all the unused old FB parts that they gave me for my trex 500; flybar, head, linkages,...etc. Also, it was not that complicated to setup the main blade and flybar. If you know how to zero your main blades and you know how to check/adjust your servos for binding then you can do it. I'm assuming you can build and program your heli from kit level. Then new generation of RTF....might have some trouble.
@HeliShed
@HeliShed 9 күн бұрын
great post pal. I will ask Condor to reply to this as it appears he has the same timeframe of experience as you. My journey with RC helis started in 2014, so i pretty much went straight to FBL after converting the Gaui 425 from FB. For my limited experience yes, it was much more locked in and of course the FBL system removes any power jitters etc. With FB you are flying the heli via the servos. With FBL, you are essentially flying the unit - it controls the sevos. FBL software enables a much more refined and accurate changes to flight style over just the TX. However, like I said, Condor is best placed to help you understand the real differences. Thanks for the comment!!

condor is not poor ! :-) also you don't need 2200 rpms to hover hahahaha The OMP interests me, on one hand it is designed by a child (Jonas Wakkenarse) and the other it has the ugliest canopy design since the Kasama Dune And that was seriously Fugly !
@HeliShed
@HeliShed 10 күн бұрын
Nope, he absolutely isn't - he's fucking loaded! Hovering at 2200 rpm? Have you seen him fly? Hovering was removed from his lexicon - after all he was originally part of the crew that invented it before many of us were born. The OMPHobby M7 is proving itself to be a formidable RC Helicopter, of that there is no doubt - but put bluntly, it's a natural progression of Mikado really (which you would know of Rachel) - you could almost call it the 'LOGO series v2' but, as for designed by a child, well................. I'm sure Jonas would have something to say about that as well as adding 'arse' in his name - 'Wakkenhaus' I think you'll find? lol....... Come on Rachel.................... it's 2024............. let's be politically correct now, there are far too many left wing liberalst 'tards' out there who associate with being a sideboard on a Monday and by Friday they're a lampshade who dresses up like my little pony at the weekends., Now that.................................. is fucking ugly. ;-)

I could write pages on this, but there is not room, But I feel a couple of things need to be said, The rain, humm it was biblical, as you know, It undoubtedly stopped the trucks emptying the loos, not an excuse a fact, still maybe some tractors to help those trucks would have helped , whatever the reason it was NOT acceptable. . I was inside (luck me the ) the production booth for the fire work show, and chunks were pulled from the show to bring it forward as much as possible, however fire works need darkness. Kudos to the production team for making it happen at all, they worked their arses off. Scale heli's , yep 3 years ago the AHA scale rep showed his helis on the Helifest FL, the next year he was on the Main FL, this year a no show ?! no idea why, Helifest welcomes Scale and gives up valuable demo time ( which sponsors pay for) to accommodate this, some times to further something you have to take the times you are offered with grace and demo your scale. Food costs , unacceptable, the organisers should put a cap on prices, but that may cause the vendors to choose not to come. Helifest for example used to be 10 deep at the spectators line, now very sadly it was no more than a few dozen true spectators, so the volume is low. The main FL, no excuse there. Should the show of been cancelled (Saturday Night) humm not my call, but I was stuck in the mud for hours with no help, I just dealt with it, stuff happens. Training, I was asked to staff the Training school, but sadly due to other commitments , I was unable to do so. so that one is partly on me! I want to add that I was Chair of THE AHA , and have been at the very top of the RC Heli Game for many years , seen it done it, loved and hated it! I honestly think the Weather screwed us over big time, lessons were learned,... (Hopefully) Jase, Grant and the team at Helifest Did an amazing Job in atrocious conditions. For Me WP have tractors , the show couldn't account for that possibility that they would be required. WP SHOULD have stepped in and got the emptying loo trucks to the loos. Just my two cents, and I do enjoy your Content . Keep it UP Regards Rachael Plant xxxx

@HeliShed 13 күн бұрын
What an excellent, well informed and intelligent response - thank you for the effort! Absolutely, everyone did a great job in my view but what was wrong with the whole WP show wreaks in my view of 'pricing out'. I believe Bishop and his crew are simply taking the absolute piss out of HeliFest (costs) and vendors and honestly no need whatsoever - I'm in Estate Management Business, I 'know' this to be the case. Personally and if I were so inclined, I'd move the bloody lot away from WP - it simply doesn't deserve the Helifest attendance or the hundreds of Heli Focused visitors, let alone the WP plane focused teams and visitors. The overall costs for the event were just shocking and if I coulda found Bishop or any of his team on the weekend you absolutely know I woulda challenged face to face. To be clear, this was not a Heli Fest issue - this was a WP organisers issue. Now, if it were to be found that the prices imposed were by the Estate then I'd be looking to change the complete organisation team who very clearly have no contract acumen or sense of what they're doing when it comes to cost. WPIMAS is not captive to WP. WP needs 'it', of which Heli Fest is part of, far more than they need WP. Finally for me? Move the lot to BMFA. Every single stand. If I had the time and space during the day to be frank, I'd do it myself with my eyes closed but I literally do not have the time and so can't. But............................. I do smell a Heli Shed event around the corner!!!
