When i was younger i never really put two and two together of just how horrific Toms death was, and it took me rewatching it 20 years later to fully appreciate it. Toms voice goes from confident and heroic, to desperate and terrified in a matter of seconds after that laser blast fails. You can even see his hand being decayed as he desperately raises it up before being dissolved, almost like he can feel pain. It's over in seconds but for tom that had to be a miserable experience. This was ballsy back then to show on a kids network even for a robot
