Nice steaks. Tho u missed a few keys points about searing steaks on a cast iron. Like basting, and resting. Usually for 7-9 minutes. Still, they turned out great. Great vid as well.

You said last year yall had a good shoot. Does that mean yall only hunt it opening day? Or do you hunt dove the entire season? Will sunflowers continue to produce birds or are they only good for early season?
@skee713 жыл бұрын
Thats a great question. The long and short of the answer is that we will shoot this field multiple times throughout the season but the real key is keeping bare dirt. Doves tend to switch to other areas once a field greens up so you need to keep that bare dirt and they will hang around.I've shot fields a dozen times in past years by running the disc through the field once a week or so. It depends on how much rain you are getting; if it's super dry and hot you don't have much greenery start but if it's cool or you are getting significant amounts of rain you will have to till or disc it more often to keep the dirt showing. The other thing to keep in mind is the birds themselves, here in Kentucky we see a good early push, then usually another push of birds around the end of September and finally we see another good push around the first week of December. In between each of these times it's pretty bleak. Having your field close enough that you can check it easily helps to plan when you shoot. Keep an eye on it, see when the bird numbers are building and then plan a shoot.

Thank you! Open toed shoes are stealth and cooler during the summer however, if you have to go off road the boots could be a better choice lol. Good luck and shoot straight!!

@@skee71 is it illegal to run a cable across my dove field?
@skee713 жыл бұрын
@@dylancarter3241 I ran one across our previous field using 1/8" cable and two old telephone poles. We were checked by the game warden and he didn't say anything about it so I'm thinking you are good to go. Baiting is illegal of course but putting up a line isn't as far as I know. Honestly Ive had better luck digging a 6" hole about 18" deep and placing a piece of 6" pvc pipe in it (to keep it from filling back in) then cutting a tree early in the season that has a 5" or so diameter at the base. Allow the leaves to fall off then stand it in the hole. Seems to attract birds better than the wire and two or three of them spread out in a field gives more places for birds to land.

Those were some good tips and ideas you posted. It looks like you’re really enjoying yourself and getting rid of those pesky bugs. If I may I’d like to add one more idea to all of yours good ideas. That is to mix sea salt with the regular salt 🧂 it produces better penetration while still delivering a good shot pattern . Thanks for sharing
@skee713 жыл бұрын
Thank you!! I will try the salt mixture. I have mixed red chalk with it in the past but that was more for cool effects. I'll run a mix and give it a shot. Thank you for the tip!!

To those who are casting judgment on this video or the people in it, take a second to see that this is obviously a different culture than the one you’re used to. So rather than insulting them because you don’t understand it, maybe try opening your mind and learning from/about them. That’s what wisdom is all about: Realizing that you can learn something from everyone you meet.
