Hey as someone who has played violin for five years, I recommend holding the bow with your pinky at the top of the frog, with the rest of your fingers hanging over, also the thumb should be resting on the opposite side of the other finger on the wood with a bend in the joint(about 90 degree angle).

That’s not how I was told. I was told that the thumb should be between the hair and the wood

I always say “C is to the left of the two black keys” with that you can find every key with common knowledge
