Tom you have a more interesting and better finished Inglenook than my effort!! I removed one hook off the loco end of my puzzle wagons and weighted them all to Iain Rice's recommended axle loading. Which cured derailing and made uncoupling easier with a tiny magnet glued well up into the end of a dowel. The air gap to stop the magnet pulling the wagon off the tracks. My loco is a cobbled M W class H, 0-4-0.

I reckon you could put that into a locomotive, make an RC shunter. I’m going to give it a go myself.

Not quite in this spec - a basic version is available on Shapeways (look for TS Engineering) but this more complex version is too fiddly for them to print well

Every tiny bit of weight that you can shave off will make a difference. The original designers of the Turbo racing system thought carefully about power-weight ratio, so for conversion from die-cast you can assume lesser performance straight away but a different car (not a a hefty van or bus) with some careful grinding of the underneath does work.

For N scale, what size bearings do you suggest?
@tsdesign33172 жыл бұрын
I'm afraid I don't have much experience with N Gauge, I would guess around 5 -7mm outer diameter but bearings like that can get more expensive the smaller you go

@@tsdesign3317 Thanks for the reply. Is it fair to say that the bearing OD should be equal to or smaller than the diameter of the smallest drive wheel to be used?
@tsdesign33172 жыл бұрын
@@donaldshroyer8633 Probably smaller if possible - the larger they are, the further down between the rollers the loco will sit, which means there's a higher chance of the chassis sitting on the rollers instead of the wheels

Thanks for the video. I’m trying to create a chimney where the transition from the chimney tube to the saddle isn’t a straightforward curved fillet - it changes as it goes around the saddle. Any ideas appreciated.
@tsdesign33172 жыл бұрын
You may be able to do this with a lofted profile - I'm not in a position to make a video on that myself at the moment, but a quick search should turn up plenty of videos on the process. Hope that helps!

@@tsdesign3317 that’s what I’ve been trying, useing rails to set the correct graduated fillet - unfortunately the loft fails when I click on the rails.

Cost nothing, mechanically simple and absolutely reliable, works with any vertical motion coupling systems (HO too, especially my pick, Roco Universal), and, cherry atop the gigantic chocolate cake, easy to dissimulate as anything you can find in the prototype between the tracks which looks like more or less like a planar thing. I take it !

¡Hola buenas tardes! Great little layout update video. Quite intrigued with the uncoupler levers. Have you any drawings of the design. I've been trying to adopt an uncoupling method and yours seem, as you say, simple and effective? As ever, keep safe and well. Un saludo. Gary
@tsdesign33172 жыл бұрын
Thanks! No drawings unfortunately, it's all very much bodged - but also simple, so not too hard to do. It's mainly just "a thing between the tracks with a link to under the baseboard" plus "a thing to push that bit up with". Hence the angled wire like mine, or cams, or electromagnets etc. There are many ways you could do it!
@Tnapvrvideo2 жыл бұрын
Fantastic! Beautiful set-up. Might you post a video that explains the levers on the front fascia and the assortment of toggle switches on the top face plate - including how you created the under-the-benchwork design. That would be a lot of fun to see in detail. Well Done!!!
