Hello! I am unsure if you are asking for UWC USA or UWC International as a whole. However, international students tend to apply through their national committees and then they are placed into a UWC unless they go through the Global Selection Programme. Regarding scholarships, they differ from country to country and are dependent on national committee, personal needs, and what school you are going to.

Yes! You are allowed to leave campus between certain hours as well as on the weekends and during breaks. Residence coordinators (House parents are also on campus and available to you and if they are not there, there is always an adult on duty/accessible to you.

Hi! I do have to say, if you are not comfortable with mosquitos, ants of all kinds, iguanas, flies, cockroaches, and armadillos, Costa Rica is probably not the campus for you. You do get used to them after a while, but if you don't want to deal with at least ants and mosquitos daily, then I might choose another campus. I hope this helps!

Oh yeah be prepared.Insects are EVERYWHERE the little ants you see in food are super common.They are edible but the taste like how paint smells lol

Hi! Yes my process did include a Finalist Weekend. Nearly 100 students participated and 50-60 typically get in with half going to the campus in the United States and the other abroad. Good luck!

Hi! The interview will tend to be in the native language of whatever national committee you are applying through unless you have special circumstances e.g Expat who lives in the country but speaks English as a primary language.

It depends, in my country we had one interview in our native language and one in English.

Hi! It tends to depend on what deadline you decide to submit on. The early deadline tends to be two weeks to a month, and the normal deadline tends to be two to three weeks. When I did the early deadline, the date was near the end of October and they said that they would get back to me November 1-8. This also depends on which national committee you are applying through. Regardless, they send you an email whether you move on to the next round or not. I hope this helps!

Hi! My national committee did not ask me the question "Why do you want to study at UWC?" So I apologize that I cannot aid you in that way. I can say to really think about the UWC values and what they mean to you. Look into UWC and the community and what makes it unique and then connect it back to you and your values. After, try to formulate your answers from there. I hope this helps!

Hi! From what I understand, you do not need to take a languege proficiency test in order to get a visa. Granted, I am going to Costa Rica, but I have not needed to take a Spanish Languege test in order to recive my visa. It might be different for other colleges, but the visa you will recive to study at a UWC is a student visa, allowing you to study in the country as long as it is sponsored by a school.
