Thank you! You are the first one that makes it easy to understand how to test the black lights. Everybody else makes it complicated and does not explain it.Well or give a good demonstration. kudos to you.

Thank you; I've been wondering about the difference between fluorescent and LED black lights, and this kind of objective, scientific approach is exactly what was needed to clear up the matter. Btw, is "ambient" just another term for light in the visible spectrum, or would it be more accurately applied to light that leaks into the area from sources other than those being tested?

FINALLY. Thank you for clarifying things so clearly and succinctly! I suspected LED UV lights produced tons of spurious visible light, but could not discern this by reading product specs or user reviews. I bet most young'uns happy with LED UV lights simply have no clue that the entire point of "UV magic" is to make things light up brightly in otherwise pitch black surroundings.

I’d say the LED is worse because it emits lots of regular light, it’s like buying a gun that randomly double taps every few shots

I'm afraid not. It's not because there isn't one, I just have not looked for or tested any in my units. Maybe I could look into a suitable LED replacement for the ZB-64514 sometime in a future video...

Thank u! Is it the stinger II noisy? For a theater with dialogs
@nateslighting5 ай бұрын
It does make a little noise because of the little fan in the front cooling the laser diodes. I would compare it to the noise of a laptop fan on medium speed. Unless you get one that has a failing fan and it's whining loudly, I don't see you having a problem with noise in a theatre application.

Thanks. Cool quick summary & proves old school lights are superior. I purchased for my 10 year old niece some fluorescent paint & told her about how we loved the fuzzy posters back in the 70's. Now have to figure out if there is a way to use black painted cloth paper to "practice" techniques before graduating to canvas.

The thing is. It will always be harder to see the farthest point in the dark. The light you are promoting is in the background. I can't take your experiment seriously.

The DJM400 is the only pioneer mixer i like. I have the K-limited version and i really enjoed and used it a lot a few years ago! Now i'm into other stuff but i still use it in some smaller events. I love what you did, the silver faceplate really looks dope! And it looks like a pretty hard job to do, congrats! Glad to see some people still use old CDJs too, that stuff was built to last!

Ridiculous comparison to be honest. Both clearly emit different wavelengths of light. If you want to make a valid comparison into which emits less visible light you should obviously use the same wavelength to begin with since a higher wavelength on the spectrum will always equal more visible light.
@nateslighting10 ай бұрын
I see your point, but what UV LED fixtures use the proper wavelength in the DJ lighting market today? Most all of them use the same higher 395nm wavelength. That comparison was not the point of this video. It was to show the difference between mainstream UV "blacklight" LED fixtures vs the true fluorescent blacklights. I'm not discrediting your point on wavelength as it is valid and I would love to see DJ lighting manufacturers start using the proper wavelength for their blacklights. I have yet to see that go mainstream, and when hopefully that time comes, I may make a followup video in the future.

Nice comparison, keep up the good work Nate! I personally think the same, white strobe or blind fx are much more useful over UV leds, especially in a party setup or wedding.

F40T8/BLUE 40W tube light Is this same as black light ?? When I turned it ON for 5 min, then normal white led light, the white light was looking more yellower light for few minutes, then to white light. Did it affect eye badly ? Any potential eye /skin damage from using F40T8/BLUE tube light ??

Hello, I am doing a special project for myself right now of building a creator/gaming desktop PC. It us the first PC I have built since the Windows 98/XP days. It is getting a custom water cooling loop (a first for me) and I am going for a 60s/70s retro rave/hippie/trippy/disco aesthetic. The case and fans are pink and some parts are white. I am looking to purchase a small usb powered “glass tube fluorescent bulb” type of light to really send the look into orbit…..anyone know where I can find that type of case lighting device? I have been searching online everywhere but all I can find are those cheap dip dot looking LED strips which I don’t like the “dotty” effect it casts, I like the smoothness of a traditional bulb. All suggestions are appreciated.

The reason I love fluorescent blacklights is that is has a nice soft purple glow on the tubes. The issue with led black light is that is not true UV. Most led blacklights produce most of it's light in the 405nm (very deep purple) light. With the fluorescent blacklight light most of the light is 365nm. You can get 365nm leds but unfortunately they are very expensive and is more cheaper to use 405nm instead. That strong purple glow from the UV led also ruins the atmosphere when you want black light paintings to glow in the dark.
@satwikk9896Ай бұрын
This is exactly my problem 😭 I bought a nice uv tapestry for my wall and the goddamn black light LEDs light up the whole damn room in purple which takes it all away. In a pitch black dark room, ONLY the tapestry should glow, that's how it's supposed to be. But everywhere online, both amazon and walmart mainly sell the LEDs, which sucks. Thankfully I just found a 17W tube on walmart and ordered it, I'm hoping it will be enough for my small room.
