Thank You for your well-researched, well-spoken and Informative video/documentary!! I have a question, and I hope its not offensive: I can't help wondering - why has no sub-Sahara african societies developed writing and mathematics? I'm puzzled each time I (again..) hear of 'the europeans' as source of written report of what an african country used to be like. Surely africans in general have the intellectual faculaties similar (or beyond) the rest of the world. Why, then, have we not similar ancient sources of writing? It would be so interesting to read about the African History - not as seen by the outsiders and colonizers... - but by the african peoples themselves. Greetings from a Danish aboriginal (ie. viking heritage) - we wrote on stones back then but we have since moved on to paper and oled-displays :- )

this video is very questionable and weird, seems like something intentionally made to push a narrative, especially to foreigners. this is very much colonial propaganda, you intentionally read and disseminated false stories from colonizers themselves. Lagos was never "picturesque" it was segregated! and the colonizers didn't build stuff like you overly exaggerated it, the only built it in a way to accommodate a few at the expense of others and thats one of the reasons its failing today because the people who took over learned from the colonists, still follow their ways and refused to decolonize their minds and practices. nice try with this, it would work on ignorant people and self loathing blacks But also you didn't mention how Lagos was not easily invaded and the invasion was repealed the first time, it was the second time tha the colonizers stayed at a distance and started firing incriminately at civilian environments and led to alot of people fleeing, you also intentionally didn't use the map that showed how the land was altered due to the senseless bombings

Thank you for researching this topic and a special thank you for being clear about your sources; you do a better job of being transparent than a majority of YT content producers. Your presentation was clear and this comment doesn't challenge your overall narrative. Rather, one of your sources contained some very confusing, inconsistent data. At 10:44, table 7 from the 2018 Merem et al. paper, which you include in the video, has some erratic entries like at 1963,1991, and 2015 where water supply is many orders of magnitude higher than in other years. Furthermore the units of water supply MLD which I assume is million litres per day (paper does not specify) does not match the units in the other columns MGD (million gallon per day which the paper does specify) and yet, it looks like entries are subtracted to yield a demand gap in MGD. Also, the population values eventually far exceed what I can find from other sources online starting after 2015 which also has an abnormal drop in population and a value of water supply that is 3 orders of magnitude higher than other entries besides 1963, and 1991; 2016, 2018 and 2020 feature populations values that are up to near 50% higher than current estimates of Lagos' population. Since the paper was published in 2018, the number for 2020 at the least must be a projection. The paper mentioned current water demand at 540 MGD vs a capacity of 210 MGD which you mention in the video as well, but this corresponds to the numbers seen in 2010 if we assume that MLD is just not the correct unit for the water supply column. Overall, this seems consistent with the data actually dating to 2010 and the remainder including 2015 onward being projections. This might also explain why 2015 featured such extremely anomalous data: it might have been a projection error. I'm pretty surprised this table and section was not flagged in the review process of the journal. Ultimately, I believe your stipulations about the dire mismatch between water supply and demand as well as the intense population growth but I believe you may be better served with a different source for data on this topic. Again, thank you for sharing your sources; it's a great model for other content creators.

Lagos is not bigger than Gauteng (Johannesburg, Germiston and Pretoria), its not the largest city in Africa. You can see that of a world map at night with the lights. In a formal census from 2022, there are 17million people in Gauteng. 200 million people in Nigeria and 20 million in Lagos is an estimate.

It’s not just about bad roads etc. it’s like INDIA Drive on any side of the rd at any speed. Roundabouts. Don’t work the population seems to enjoy sitting in the 3 days to get across 2 miles. It’s cultural. Or just IGNORANT. You cannot run effective Traffic system with rules. And just like Pakistan and many other places. If your LANGUAGE DOES NOT EVEN HAVE WORDS . Example. Please - thank you . Etc. it’s just. DO - MOVE NOW NOW HURRY MOVE .. no politeness then it’s madness. PS. Leave the traffic to them. They wouldn’t go into the city and sleep in there western cars. I say. It should become old style. Only foot and Horse mule etc traffic. In the Center. . V.
