I’m trying to teach my dog the chin rest command and he doesn’t listen. I tried a training app and multiple videos. I want to teach him this for walks and for when he occasionally takes his heart worm prevention pills. Do you have any tips?

I have lots of ideas.....it HAS to be TAUGHT, not just expected and it has to be a LOVED position before you make it hard. If you can email me privately, I can give you some tips

Looking good 😊 Is the deep breath to slow him down ?

and to slow me down. When he goes fast, I go faster and I know I 'shouldn't'. I do a LOT of rewarding with him for 'waiting for the cue'

Do you do fast and slow in any particular order? I.e fast then calm? Or do you vary this?

:-) The idea is different speeds with lots of mediums as well....like pace changes :-)

As someone else who often has crappy training moments, it's ok! I'm working on the same exercise and have goofed up. We are learning a new skill too!

That is exactly what I did and this was the last stage of it. We did the bottom, then the top, then added the door.

What about taking it apart and shaping the bottom and then adding the top? Susan Garrett did that with her puppy in the Puppy Peaks program.

He is a pretty amazing puppy! Even was able to put up with me changing what I was doing (just to see if it would work -- and it didn't!)

This dog seems to have an unfair advantage, being named Focus! Every time you call him he gets more focussed! Oh, he's so adorable - that tired thing is working for you!
