I have tutored math for many years. When I would tutor -- especially "story" problems, but even just general math -- I always tried to say "Here's the problem; here's how you can break it down into smaller problem, smaller subproblems, etc. When I finally learned programming I realized that I had been teaching Top-Down. I LOVE that concept, and now I always tutor that way EXPLICITLY and mentioning that phrase. Needless to say, I therefore absolutely love your video, too! And all the more so because I'm very interested in Category Theory. So I started to study Haskell ... and was a little disappointed that the only category used in Haskell is the Category of Haskell Types (if I understand correctly). Oh, well! Anyway, I'm overjoyed that I stumbled onto your video ... and I look forward to watching many more! Really great work!

You are one of a very small number of teachers I've seen who have the great ability to make people laugh with you about just how great the concepts are which you are teaching.

Great talk. When he chooses Void vs Unit when explaining exponentials, are there not 0 inhabitants of Void? So he should have chosen Unit instead?

The questions was very informative and the argumentation of Erik was weak at least;.. I miss the time he was into RX. Now he seems more driven by $$ around LLM than CS stuff. He just moved where the money is that's all. I mean common, as one question was asked: why would you use a natural language with all its fuzzyness to specify a programm to a machine ? This thing will never scale to the complexity we are in our daily jobs... yet another utopia to remove developpers from the equation. It remembers me the L4G delirium in the 80s. Where are they now ?

If we can use LLMs to generate high-level code, why don't we use LLM to generate machine code directly?

Scrum is garbage. It's uselessness is compounded by the fact that most businesses demand the predictability of waterfall (deadlines, etc) with the flexibility that scrum promises (but seldom delivers). Scrum really fails when architecture or planning is needed (I know...sprint 0...yadda...yadda).

Minute 28 you hit the nail on the head, but don't understand the source of the rituals. Management is always looking for methodology and status reports because they have to provide measurements. So they are always grasping for the latest silver bullet.

The most horrible things that can be intentionally done by humans to other human beings. They enjoy destroying as much life and humanity as technically and humanly possible. Truly the sickest fcks on the planet Earth. Most victims are Mind controlled and are unaware - others are mercilessly tortured to force suicide and / or cause death. These attacks include voice communications from the attackers transmitted to the brains of victims.

I think you have not quite understood mathematics and that an equation that involves infinity can still have a real result. To stay in the methaphor, what is the limit of complexity tends to infinity ? The solution must be God ;)

This mirrors my experience of TDD over the past decades. It simply does not work as well as other forms of testing. If I was starting a project/team from scratch right now, I would employ a dedicated SDET for high level System and Integration test automation, and tell developers not to waste their time on a single Unit Test - spend more time with your kids instead.
@RonnyBubke
@RonnyBubke Жыл бұрын
Maybe you understood it the wrong way. Unit tests are not to verifying a class method and mocking all dependencies of it. If you do it this way you do it wrong. kzbin.info/www/bejne/e4uTZphterKCgq8

I know this is blasphemy... but I can't help it.... It might be because I'm dyslexic or something but all those parentheses just "do my head in"... I'm so grateful to JavaScript for teaching me all about LISP but with a syntax that I can comprehend. ..... sorry.
