We do sell to China, the UK, Japan and Mexico. It makes sense to sell to the US, us to them, them to us, since we are so close. We’ve always been close neighbours, had great trade relations. Well said, Sue. The US has many social problems right now and many pending economic problems stemming from an emerging oligarchy. However, Trumps strategy is to tell US citizens all our problems stem from "over there" and "those people". Half the country believes him because they want a savior abd are uneducated. My Grandmother was a Canadian citizen, left to marry my Grandfather in Detroit. I wish she had never left. I may never have been born, but being an American is hard these days.

You're spot on Sue. We're dealing with a power-hungry, money grabbing person. He intends to run the U.S. like a business, not the caring country that our Statue of Liberty depicts. The election was pretty much split down the middle, almost 50-50. The 50+% that voted for him did so because they wanted the republican party to stay in power, no matter the cost. What a sad mistake. Yes, isolationism is not a good thing for world camaraderie. You correctly state the history of isolationism and how it does not benefit anyone. This begs the question - doesn't Trump know or hasn't he heard of this ? We would guess he has. Power and greed blind one to the facts. We have Congress members, Attorneys General and state governors who are giving him pushback and standing for what's right. Other countries are deciding how to deal with him until he's out of office. These things are our hope.

I think maybe the cold winds and temperatures that you all experienced have head our way. It’s not supposed to last but I’m getting antsy. I think I’ll do another mall walk today, maybe drive to a nearby larger town that actually has a mall. Too bad there wasn’t a virtual walk room where you could walk and feel as if you’re in a forest. And politics? I don’t know if you get much Canadian news but our country is preparing for a blow. One British Columbia Premier said if tariffs arrive they will ban American wines and that we should not travel to the US. It seems like such a small ban but I suppose it could result in loss revenue. Traditionally many Canadians go south for the winter. They call them the Snowbirds. But then again, did you see/hear of the snow in Florida… crazy. My grandmother used to say of the changes in the world during her day, “What is the World coming to?” She could definitely say that now. I find myself saying that on occasion. There is a line from a country song Stan quotes now and again, “There’s a hole in the rood and the hens won’t lay, but we’re still a livin and everything’s okay.” Cheers!

@@TwoSeniors - A virtual walk in the forest would be a great idea. Mall walking is a good idea. Our two large/only malls are being torn down, as they're very old and outdated. Don't know what will go up in their place, but we do need malls. The town population is around 35,000. Large enough to support a mall. I could understand Canada banning American wines and discouraging travel to the US if Trump goes through with the tariffs. They didn't start this tariff threat, Trump did. You probably saw on your news about Trump's mass deportation of illegal immigrants edict. This drew immediate lawsuits from the ACLU and many Attorneys General. Most illegals are awaiting clearance and their paperwork to be processed. This can sometimes take months or even years. He's also given police authority to go into schools and churches to extract immigrants. Can you imagine. This was not allowed previously. Immigrants are terrified and afraid to leave their houses.. Some have waited months to get their customs appointments to be cleared for entry and those are now cancelled. Even legal immigrants can be deported if they have certain things on their record. He's also attempting to cancel the birthright law which is a constitutional right in America. If you're born in the US, you are automatically a citizen. He's also put a hold on our largest health care organizations' meetings until he and his admin review their policies, which could take time. Health care officials are saying this hold will cause chaos and will be harmful to research and CDC updates to the public regarding disease, medication, etc. It's hard to fathom four years of this. I think campers have a distinct advantage when it comes to survival because that's part of camping. But anyone can do it with a little research. I googled the bit about Canada possibly cutting power to the US if Trump goes thru with his ridiculous tariffs. It said that the US imports a small amount of electricity from Canada, mainly for industrial backup. It said the US has an abundance of electrical power supply and can shift electricity to any state that many be in need. It said a Canadian power cut would only affect a few states like Michigan, Wisconsin and New York. Well let's hope none of that happens. I'm not jumping down the rabbit hole every time Trump makes ludicrous statements. I'll wait and see. Although having a plan never hurts.

This was very interesting. I had been wondering what had happened with your RV plans. Yes, that RV park setup was a bit expensive. I'd thought about selling my house and buying a travel trailer (small one) and just traveling. Stay in warm southern states in winter and cooler northern states in summer. I watch a lot of videos where folks do this. Maybe you have too. Travel is great, but the on-the-road life has its ups and downs, as I'm sure you're aware. Bathing, bathroom needs, water supply, charging batteries, frequent food shopping, having a PO box that would change often. Did I want to take the chance of my pension and social security not getting to me. I know there are remedies for all of these things, but I asked myself if I want to deal with it all or would I rather keep my home as a base and travel, camp, go to events around my state, all of which I've been doing during my 14 years of retirement. So far, it's the latter.

I have also been thinking that with a Class C one would either be dealing with cold or too hot. The too hot would be easier to manage. I would have a pop up tent for sleeping on really hot nights, or definitely use fans for cooling. One can dream, but $ is a big consideration right now. I had thought that Stan’s work would continue at least for another few years but the church he worked for reallocated their finances and jobs. Stan was pastoral care. Now they have volunteers for the job. People are telling us that it’s not the same, but… what can you do. I don’t know if I’ve ever mentioned this but Stan is an ordained Baptist pastor. @@TwoSeniors - Here here! Glad you got a chuckle out of the living room camping, but hey, I'm not kidding. I have a small one-person tent and a minus 20 degree F sleeping bag that weighs 17 pounds which I got a couple years ago after reading up on how to keep warm if the power goes out in winter. Your body heat helps keep you warm inside the small tent and well, the sleeping bag speaks for itself. I also have a Buddy Heater which runs on propane and is safe for indoor use, altho I'd crack the door open a little for ventilation. My windows are sealed to keep cold air out, so I don't open them. But yes, Go Canada! You can help us keep Trump in his place.

I have been toying with the idea of seeing if my beach tent will fit in the Honda. I’d use my sub zero sleeping bag and a few other comforts and spend the night there, just to try it. I’m waiting for the right night. I haven’t told Stan about the idea yet but I’m sure he’d say,, “You’re kidding right” and then he’d say something affirming the idea, and of course he wouldn’t join me. He knows I’m a bit crazy. Anyway, the idea of the beach tent in the Honda is so that I can help retain body heat. I have a few ideas for trying out in the Honda. Anyway, I’ve been busy these days, as most are over the holidays.

@@TwoSeniors - A beach tent in the car! I love the idea. I'd be interested in how it works when you get the chance to try it out.

That looks like the perfect chair for those places, you know the kind of view, the views of lakes, hills, or a river. My son and I take a trail that brings us to a fantastic view of the Mississippi. That chair would be great just to take in the moment!

Thank you for your comments. The chairs are not expensive and they are made well, very sturdy. I researched a number of chairs and this set had the best height 15” and best strong Oxford cloth, plus the cross section in the bottom is sturdy and avoids tipping. We were both impressed on how comfortable they are.

Did you notice that the fire has its own stick and marchmallow… and around the camp fire it looks like rolled socks… not rocks. They are all too close to the fire and too warmly dressed. Interesting AI generation of an image. Apparently AI has a lot to learn. Cheers and Merry Christmas

@@TwoSeniors - I thought that stick was in the girl's other hand, but I guess it's coming out of the fire. That would be weird. I thought those were marshmallows around the fire ring, but couldn't really make it out. They sure were too close to the fire and the fire was INSIDE the tent! Their roasting sticks were too short also. It was a cute little quiz though.

Thanks for having fun with the quiz. It was a spontaneous idea. You’re right about the stick coming out of the fire and everyone being too close. AI apparently has a lot to learn. I saw a friend’s generated Ai image of seniors painting and the canvas was on the wrong side of the easel. Merry Christmas. Will you be with your daughter? We did our daughter visit last week, sons this weekend, friends on Christmas Day. I don’t have to cook anything but am making cheesecakes. I love making those.

@@TwoSeniors - Sounds like you're having a busy Christmas season. Had a pre-Christmas visit with my daughter already. She works two jobs; driving school bus and driving coach tours all over the country. Her schedule is so busy, she's cooking her Thanksgiving dinner in January. She also volunteers in community activities such as Boy Scouts of America and a county park near her home. I don't know how she does it with 3 kids at home, even though they are teenagers. But they do help out. I used to make cheesecakes often too. There's nothing like a homemade cheesecake. Merry Christmas to you and Stanley!

Maybe don't let the fire have it's own marshmallow and NO FIRE IN THE TENT GUYS

Well, gee, if I could afford a hotel room like this - they have to be over $150 or more a NIGHT and I couldn't afford a hotel that charged $150 a WEEK, let alone a night...
