Well the top objective is to know the water/liquid level in the tank with respect to time. Also to analyse the impact of the hole shape, water tank shape, initial storage of water in the tank on the outflow of water. Why we study these models, think it for a large scale, like don't think these tanks as water tank in your house, think of big water tank of the society, liquid storage big tanks in chemical industry, water reservoirs in a city etc. then the above said objectives become meaningful.

Few practical advices If we know that we dont need to permute rows we can perform Gaussian elimination subtracting rows then multipliers put into the L matrix If we need row permutations then in ith iteration after row perutation divide column below main diagonal by element on main diagonal and perform Gaussian elimination to the A_{i+1:n,i+1:n} block with multipliers saved in ith column below main diagonal

Thank you for your suggestions. I think it will help students who manually calculate the LU matrices. By the way I have used the built in function of Matlab, and they have the optimized algorithm which might include your suggested input. 😇
