I went through the reboot first after I decided that DMC is worthy of my time (so many people meme it after all), and I kinda enjoyed it, but I thought that it was THE VERY FIRST DMC GAME and omg I wish I knew... OK, 2003, I didn't expect much, but bruh, you stand in one place, spam a single button and Dante shoots the boss... IDK how the boss looked like, it was off the screen, I had to google "infested chopper" to find out what it looks like. I'm not joking, I didn't see the boss until I defeated it, not even afterwards. After the reboot, the story felt like I was supposed to read a book of exposition (you know, the kind that was included for DOOM 1 and 2) or that it's a continuation of something. Well, who the hell would have ever guessed? I heard the later games are a lot better, so only because of this will I grind down DMC1 too, in hope that I'll see something better when it's over. Please reassure me whether it'll worth my while or not.

It does have a bad story and no one likes dantes personality in this game, but I found it really satisfying and enjoyed it. I also really like atmosphere of the city areas. I heard so much about how terrible it was going to be I didn't want to even play it, but I think it is a lot better than people say.

Man, Birth by Sleep is my second least favorite game in the series if we don't count the mobile games, but it's probably one of the entries I played the most. • played vanilla BbS on PSP (vanilla = first Japanese version, not the western version) • bought western BbS, but emulated it. • bought and played final mix on PSP • played and completed the PS3 version in 2.5 • played and completed the PS4 version in 1.5+2.5 • am currently in the process of completing the PS3 version once more after I lost all my KH save files on PS3. It's a game I like less each time I play it, but I'm a lizard brained masochist.

One of my favorite things about DmC was the combat philosophy. It gave you unfettered access to Dante's entire arsenal at once, to the point that I'd be coming up with creative combo chains using everything I had access to, without dropping the combo. It was a dopamine manufactory and I loved that.

for the first playthrough arkham fight might feel little too unfair so heres couple tips for arkham arkham deals a lot of damage especially the heatseeking slug projectile if you are having trouble with getting perfect i frames or rg parries you can just take trickster to dodge to front or you can just hold style button with royalguard even tho it will eventually brake your guard its still gonna reduce a lot of damage for weapon choices if you can jump cancel beowolf is the best weapon in the game if you cant rebellion is balanced enough and million stab deals a lot of damage for guns just bring kalina ann for the slugs that arkham spawns it just makes everything so much more easier and you dont really get to use kalina ann since it has really short range and for damage generally the shotgun is better and most importantly if you cant beat it just use items we dont blame people for using items since they are a part of the game and when vergil shows up you lose your style button and dt gauge so items gain more value i hope this helps

One compliment I’ll give is the game looks pretty good for when it came out. Dante’s animations look great and I find his hair and coat physics impressive for the time. I personally believe they cut back on those features in 3 due to a budget cut caused by this game bombing.

Look, KH3 isn't perfect and definitley has it's flaws, but some of the arguments here are just flat out wrong... (Don't take this too serously. After all, it's just an opinion a random guy on the intenet had to share.) 1) The camera is messy at times, but KH2 also had camera problems. They would just sometimes get covered and I just couldn't see what the boss was doing. It would just wobble all over the place. 2) KH2 had lots of times where bosses with wipe you out instantly without you being able to do anything about it. (Exmple: Xaldin when he casts his auro sheild while you use his jump abilities. Sephiroth would hit you when doing his regular combo while blocking.) 3) There was an entire mechanic in KH2 that you couldn't kill bosses exept with a finisher for a "cinamatic flair". The amount of times where bosses woud be on 1HP and kill me was insane. Was it worth it? no 4) KH3 also had a high risk/high reward system. There are dozens of ways to play offensivly without dying. You can use auro magic to stun and group enemies, or use flowmotion attacks on big groups to attack them all together. But tbh all KH games after KH2 can be played by hanging back thanks to mp recharging automaticaly. 5) KH2FM had many flaws that aren't mentioned. There are some that they share with KH3 and some by themselves. Like limits are just as broken as links in KH3, they give you full invinsablity while dealing massive damage to the enemies. There can be tons of spam in KH2, like spaming reflect on most bosses usally results in a win. Most super bosses can be cheesed with the "easy method" which is fenrir and negative combo and using arial finishing combos, stuning the boss untill they die. While KH3 might have it's flaws, the game is very fun in a way. But there some things that are way better than KH2, and there are many flaws in KH2 I don't see addresed in this video that are totally mentioned for KH3, (Even when they are not true.) Though I do belive links are broken in KH3, I don't think they make the game any worse. I use links a lot in KH3 and find them fun to use in lots of situations. Hell, almost any cahnce I get I would use Ralph on a boss to destroy their health bar. I belive KH3 is a good game with lots of fun aspects and KH2 also very fun but with some big flaws that are neglected due to nostalgia.

Tbh the game is def cringey with its edginess but the design, visuals , combat, and story are actually VERY good, if this was just sold and packaged as its own thing and not a devil may cry game it probably wouldve been way better received

Hard agree on everything you said about V. Great idea, love the concept, adore the super edgy character but... he's such a drag to play as. At first I was excited to try him out which carried me for a few missions but I realised how shallow his move set really was and what a drag it was to spam two buttons all the time.

Damn! virgil's fit is insane at the end, but to be honest the bosses, the enemies and the setting of the world lacked a little bit of creativity and weren't as memorable as the older games

I loved this game, specially combat-wise. I really didn't care for the characters or the plot. Actually let's be honest, plot was never the true strongest part of the franchise anyway. But combat-wise this game was a lot of fun, I played until the heaven or hell mode.

Reboot DmC is my 3rd favorite game of the series behind DMC4 and DMC3. The combat took a lot of assets from the best parts of 3 and 4 while adding some new concepts without compromising fundamental play from 3 and 4. The Demon Pull and Angel Lift are literally Nero’s Snatch and Hellbound as an example. DmC was one of my most enjoyable Platinum trophies I’ve ever gotten even now. I still have an original, physical copy for my PS3. Maybe I’ll revisit it at some point for old time’s sake.
@qthestruggler271529 күн бұрын
And then 2 was so bad that it hurt 3’s sales. Because people actually lost confidence in the IP as a whole because 2 was so bad. That, and journalist said 3 was too hard, which turned off the casual audience.
@qthestruggler271529 күн бұрын
Capcom was trying to save money while maximizing profit off of the success of the first game. That’s why they got a younger, in experienced team and went through 3 different directors making the game. And it was still only 40% done by the time they released it because they tried to force Itsuno to crunch out the rest and made him the fall guy when the game flopped.
@qthestruggler271529 күн бұрын
Yes. DMC2 is in fact, the worse game in the series by a mile and a half.
@soulkibble1466Ай бұрын
The way I interpreted Vergil's whole desire to rule was moreso a "Savior complex" that he developed because in his mind Humans are still easily manipulated such as with how Mundus had control over them so, he thought he was doing better by being a more "Righteous" and "Just" king. In essence Vergil feels that it is his duty and birthright as a Godlike Being to protect and shepherd humans whereas Dante's arc was basically centered around him not giving a fuck despite also being a Godlike being and only growing to care for humans when he is more or less forced into the war.

Finally! An appreciation video that appreciates properly. I love how you go into detail on all the individual elements that make the game great and get really specific about why they work when other examples don't. One of the best review videos I've seen, ESPECIALLY given how short it is compared to other hour-long videos. Overall, great job!

As a DMC series fan at the time who had just escaped the beginning of an edgy phase and was slipping into a weeby phase, I was super upset at the presentation and the implicit insult towards a series I Adored. DMC was supposed to be goofy cool, not edgy cool (which hit hard as I was moving away from that). Plus as Hyve says, Dante was generic. I remained oblivious to the dev drama and did play the game on release and have stuck to the same opinion ever since. Love Love the gameplay. Utterly despise everything else. DMC.5 (as I like to distinguish it) was the first time I experienced something that was tarnished by putting it under the wrong name. BBC America's "Discworld" show is a more recent example. I really think I could get into this world, even if they didn't disconnect from the franchise, just so long as they tone down the edge and add some actually decent writing. Also, I had no idea about Vergil's fedora! That's such a shame as he gives me sort incel vibes, but about power instead of sex.

Its the best devil may cry game. Proper level design, accessible combat thats not made for NEETs, banging soundtrack, its the true evolution of what DMC should be, instead of a janky resident evil knockoff at its core.

yannow i do like the story. but yeah i can get why people don't. but i personally love it in terms of gameplay nero is simpler but i honestly don't mind that. him being more simple then dante just means i don't have the pressure to try to do some crazy stuff. and sure there is skill with nero but compared to dante not really. i will say u do NOT need a back button controller with nero. map exceed to L1 and gun to L2. there u go now u can hold gun while having a more precise exceed attack. just might hurt ur finger a tiny bit but depends on the person. but yeah nero is simple but not too simple and u can do some fun stuff with nero. and since the enemies are made for him he has an answer to everything which can be fun experimenting especially when buster as basic as it is feels fun to use and looks fun to pull off i like dmc 4 nero more then 5. in a story term nero to me doesn't feel like a carbon copy of dante. he has his own sense of cockiness and personality. in 5 he just kinda complained the whole time. he does have his moments but idk the charm he had in 4 is just gone. i like his outfit more in 4 too. and his arm is so sick. the buster look compared to 4-5 definitely looks better in 4 (talking about the buster arm after the game) i honestly wish that returned then just a normal arm. i also like the flame animation on moves more in this game then 5. regardless of how complex he becomes in 5 dmc 4 will be my fave for nero. as for dante other then him in story/outfit i actually hate him here in a gameplay sense. he feels so limited compared to 3. not even in weapons just moves and styles. sure u can now style switch which was the only good addition for dante. then switch came out for dmc 3 and now the uniqueness is lost. fist weapon is meh with only 1 high damage move, lucifer is meh. good damage on explotions but as a weapon itself not much variety of moves. rebellion is obviously the best but even then. styles feel like they got a downgrade too. tricksters moveset took a nose dive a bit. like come one removing triple dash? idek why they did. gunslinger? the guns are ass anyway. royalguard? the timing for perfect is way too tight. swordmaster? again only rebellion got more moves that are good but even then not really. not to mention the enemies feel like their not for dante at all especially when he does not a lot of damage. like he does decent damage and has some moves that are high damage dealers but as normal attacks? yeah no. u don't even get many weapons. like 1 okay gun and 2 okay swords. unless u are advanced with dante he is not a good character to play as. at least not as fun as nero is. u can tell this game is rushed. kinda wish dante wasn't playable at all seeing as how lame it feels if ur not a pro at him. i find 3 dante more fun honestly. it's a harder game but honestly once ur adjusted to it it's not that hard. and 5 is def more fun then 4 dante in terms of story i love his personality. compared to 5 i love it more. same with the outfit choice. i love 3 dante but the no shirt ruined it a bit for me and dmc 5 dante is... meh. he doesn't look l like he slays demons and is professional cuz regardless of how dante is he still looked professional and kitted out. in 5 he looks like ur uncle after drinking beer lol. nothing wrong with it just not for me. in terms of personality he's cocky like nero but in his own sense and he's got the skills to back it up. i just love dmc 4 dante which sucks that he wasn't in it much. i will say the dice mini game is probably the best out of the entire minigames. don't get me wrong hate it too but it's easy. what it shows on the top of the dice is how many places u move and boom done. it's still boring but it's better then the damn maze

I disagree that "It has to be this way" is Raiden's Song, I'd say that Collective Consciousness is Armstrong (The Politician) and It has to be this way is Armstrong (The Antagonist to Raiden), in "It has to be this way" they sing "I've carved my own path, you followed your wrath" clearly this is something Armstrong would say about Raiden not the other way around

In the reboot, Dante is embracing his angelic side while as vergil is embracing his demon side. and about the sniper scene, mundus doesn't know that vergil is a nephilim until later in the game. so he's trying to hide that face which for some reason gets misunderstood by fans. and honestly the idea of a nephilim becomming a demon king is very interesting but we will probably never get DmC 2
