With the benefit of hindsight, you are probably right, large chunks of it probably would have scraped off fairly easily.

We have high level plans for the gardens as a whole, but not anything in depth. We know we want a lot less lawn and more flower borders and ideally a wildlife pond. But we haven't decided exactly where everything will go. We'll probably have a better idea as we start adding in paths and get a better idea of the space.

Our other mature hedges are full of birds, so we are hoping that eventually the same will happen with the new plants.

I didn't need flashing, so I didn't pay attention to it, but I do remember seeing some Onduline specific flashing on one of the sites I visited during my research.
