thats an art. we lost a really good artist in our area. he made snowshoes,birch canoes etc. brings a tear to my eye that there might be no one to fill his shoes.great video!!!

video well done, awsome learning. I teach my students to make snow shoes but we use synthic net mending twine. But to tan and lace yours is a lost art

He was a close friend of mine, a genuine good human being, he used to party with our band "Still Smokin" at the Cabaret in downtown Fairbanks. He will truly be missed, a good friend and great artist !

Update; fact; Did some acting a bit for (3) months on Shakespear-"King Lear" under a new Gwich'in Indian version and now back to training the youth native dancers at the Morris Thompson Cultural & Visitors Center in Fairbanks Alaska for (3) years and I truly believe this model of mentoring and building resumes is the best way for future leaders of our Alaska native people. Retiring from our armed forces and still caring is the word here, gwinzii!

I wouldn't think you would need to fuse the ends... Once the wood dries, if there is any gap to it, it should end up getting held together when you stretch the hide over it.
