I actually completed the Lost World Half Day 4hr (Dry Tour) for $350 USD last week and I must say the website saying “no experience” and “minimum age 10 yrs old” is beyond misleading in my opinion! You definitely need to be in perfect shape and you need to have athletic and/or rock climbing experience. Navigating the cave is unsafe as the rocks are wet, slippery, and mobile and you must be aware of your footing at all times or else prepare to go to the Emergency Room. There is no way in hell I would let a 10 yr old do this! You must climb a 100 foot latter to get out of the cave system for the half day tour and if you are not physically prepared you will not make it! Its the scariest feeling on earth! I took 3 breaks on the ladder and I cried. My travel partner was a previous athlete and said the same! There’s also no discussion on the website of an escape plan for those unable to continue. Also you must do a significant amount of hiking/climbing BEFORE and AFTER climbing the 100 ft ladder and it is physically exhausting and miserable. The easiest part of any of these tours is the 100 meter abseil and the rest is hell!! Also for anyone who leaves less than a 5 star review, the owners of the tour company “Waitomo Adventures” will insult you and roast and gaslight you into oblivion! Check out my review and others on Trip Advisor. The whole day tour featured in the Mr. Beast video is accurate regarding the freezing temperatures (which many cant tolerate) and one could easily have a panic attack because the spaces you must navigate are tiny and you must “rock climb” your way our out of several narrow spaces with massive water falls pouring on top of you! This brings me to my next point…you need to be a skinny person to do any of these activities as you simply will not be able to bypass any of the small spaces let alone complete the physical challenges involved. The whole day “wet tour” is beyond unsafe for those who don’t have previous rock climbing/athletic/cliff jumping/caving experience (in that order)!!! If I had known I would have done this at all! The views during 100 meter abseil are magnificent but not worth everything I just described….I wish they would make it a 1 hr tour where you can abseil down the 100 meters then be lifted back out! That would be perfect and safe for tourist from all walks of life!

Life changing experience!!!! But if you don’t like heights and tight spaces then don’t do it! I was tricked and cried the whole time but absolutely worth it

Great one! I did it 2 weeks back and I'd have to say it left a sweet memory from my caving adventures in Waitomo. Never would I imagine under the green lovely countryside filled with grazing cattle, there lies an amazing water gushing network of caves filled with glow worms! Cool as!!! The activity was educational + adventurous for abseiling underneath pouring water and uneven wall surface! I'm blogging about this and I'm using this cool video to show peeps how cool it is!! Credits to you!
