This was a great find. Thank you for sharing this way of approaching artistry. As someone who has always loved a vast majority of music genres and created different kinds of songs, I often found myself being put into a box based on my appearance. I did not fit the "look" others expected of me. I did not talk about topics people wanted to hear from me. I was not inspired by the right group of musicians, singers, and songwriters.... But letting go of expectations of others and exploring who i am and what matters to me has helped me create and share genuine and honest art despite all of the surface level criticism. I hope that this mindset you've shared in detail becomes a standard for the entertainment industry in general. We need more authenticity now more than ever. Wishing you the best.

I'm so glad you were able to let go of expectations and free yourself of the ideas/ideals of others. It's quite liberating as an artist. Have a lovely day!

Thanks for sharing your wisdom! Great advice! Something that has helped me is to realize that "no" isn't personal. It isn't a rejection of me. There are many reasons why something I create may not be accepted by someone else. This reminds me of a tryout I did in high school for a comedy show the school was putting on. I came up with some jokes--mainly puns: "Did you hear about the kid who took a course on current events? He thought it was an oceanography class.". I didn't put much thought into it other than thinking up the jokes, and I didn't know what I was doing. I just felt compelled to audition. There were six judges and most of them stared at me with blank expressions. However, there was one gal who laughed at my silly jokes. What I'm trying to say is a lot goes into whether your performance hits the spot. That one gal liked puns or something, I don't know what made her laugh, I was just glad she did. I got accepted as an alternate. Thankfully, they ran out of time and I didn't have to perform--I was not prepared and it might have been a distressing situation for me. I agree with you that it is not a good idea to put armor on. You end up blocking out everything--both pain and pleasure. I enjoyed listening to you. You gave me something to think about regarding being unique. I am interested in VO and your insights are helpful.

I wish I could explain it. I can't get anyone to read any of the books that I recommend. I spend all this time doing the reviews and I know that a lot of authors really appreciate I take time out to do a review but no one's interested in my opinion. I'm also the opposite. I won't go to the cinema because it's way too expensive and people talk thru out but I will go and buy books

It's not you, it's everywhere. I think there are more and more casual readers these days and they are less willing to take a chance on an unknown author, even when the book only costs $2.99.

Nice job! I agree. I remember getting very depressed because I wasn’t expressing myself by making art that I want to make. So I set a daily (5out of 7days), for 30mins, to make art that I want to make. It quickly boosted my zest for life. Now I tell people to find your creative outlet, (Art, music, theatre, dance, etc.) and do it just for you and your soul. Don’t worry about the money, just for you. Over time, when you are ready, you will have enough work to try to monetize. But most importantly, all this work is for your well being.

I would say, yes. It can take a high level of creativity to build an application. I think programmers with creative minds are light years ahead of those who can only think pragmatically.

This is hard to watch, because you’ve confused truthfulness with sincerity. You’re talking about different ways to be sincere and authentic. Truth is when you can measure something, test it. Truth and authenticity, both incredibly difficult things but they’re different.
@jackwallen4 ай бұрын
Yes, by definition truth is a measurable construct. But as an artist, truth takes on additional meaning and is a measure of a connection to how the inner life matches the external reality.
