We were at exactly this city camper pitch in Montpellier last oktober. Nice place with good service for a real fair price. The nearby Boulangerie at the roundabout was great also. I do recognize the restrictions for overnight stays for larger campervans around the harbor, city center and along the water at Palavas-les-Flots but that honestly did not surprise me. Our van is 2.5 meters high, 6 long so that was not possible for us either. Normal parking in that area was no problem at all, many large parking spaces available. You can also spend the night on a few of them. We were in that area for about 4 days, we paid for 1 night in the same place as you were and the other 3 nights in the area on larger free parking spaces along the A9 and A709. All in all, this was our first trip through France and we will do it again in a few months. We were on the road for 21 days and stayed 6 nights on campsites and the rest on free places along the highway or in villages near the highways.

@@PC1I no way as if you stayed there as well!! 😁that's awesome we love connecting with fellow van lifers and that Boulangerie was lovely we treated ourselves to a few cakes. 😋 we totally get what you mean we much prefer to find wild camp spots in the mountains or forest we only treat ourselves to reasonable prices aire or campsites now and then. We much prefer to be in nature as much as possible! 😊

@@Jude74 it's crazy that the world's becoming less van friendly. All because the powers that be aren't happy there is a small group of the population not taking out a mortgage on a house to pay interest back to a bank.
@jaysummers93962 күн бұрын
@wildfreevanseaWhat an odd and uneducated, shallow, naive and conspiracy statement to make 🤔 firstly, the vanlife community is a minuscule part of the U.K population, I hardly think the "powers that be" have an active policy of discrimination based on lack of mortgages purchased by vanlifers, secondly, most vanlifers either have a mortgage and rent their property, had a mortgage and sold up, or have paid their mortgage off and are now travelling, vanlifers are having absolutely zero effect on banks profits. Thirdly, there are literally thousands of places to legitimately park a van in the UK, you can choose to use them or not, sure, lot's of councils all over Europe discourage vans and vanlifers in certain places, but that's more to do with the bad elements that leave rubbish and shit everywhere they go, and not to mention the travelling community who turn up en masse and completely take over until removed by the police, and furthermore, nearly every vanlifer is paying thousands a year into economies via road tax, tolls, insurance, petrol, diesel etc etc, so to make the claim that vanlifers are being discriminated because banks are annoyed they're not buying houses is laughable in the extreme. And I've been living in my van for over five years, guess what? I've never once parked in a car park, it's not my thing....

@ it’s largely about money. Can’t make money on people who don’t stay put and pay property taxes. It sucks. I’m sorry you have the deal with this.

Love your van ❤ what is the dimensions of the full cargo area length and width from behind cab seats? I just bought a Transit Jumbo approx 4.25m long and 1.75m wide floor space and your van looks so big inside! Beautiful build and the shower is so unobtrusive and makes me think again about excluding it ❤ how wide is your walkway/galley?
@wildfreevansea3 күн бұрын
@@kyliehoneyman6304 thanks for the comment I am glad you like our van.❤️ in all I don't have the exact dimensions because I never brought a tape measure with me sorry about that. But I do know it's the largest van you are able to drive on a UK car license with the whole vehicle being a whopping 7.5m long. We fit our king size bed from our house in the back which takes up the most room as we sleep length ways. The walkway i would roughly guess is about 70cm wide, plenty of space for us but even more for storage.
