I love the super crunchy sounds from mods like Lethal Agents. Do they sound realistic? No, but they have such an impact that it (IMO) enhances the experience.

You can tell the age of the mods by their reload animation. Pre-internet very few people knew how to use Maya or similar animation programs to their full extent, not to mention the lack of features in said programs and information about animation being sparse. It's like dating a manuscript by the writing style except this time it's by looking at the reload animations of mods.
