Crap install no ventilation gap ? Wth you put that inserted like that expect the condensation to come along soon ? Bad advertising 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔

Why? It's a breathable membrane. You're allowed if it's breathable but if it's that bitumen felt then yes, you need a 50mm gap.
@PaulARSENALFC2 жыл бұрын
Prefer this if using Tyvek or other breathable felt, who uses anything else now, then the rafters can breath, think there’s a lot of brown envelopes being passed around to use solid PIR boards, which, no matter what you do to contain the dust, it’s gets everywhere, I purchased a festool cutting tool for it, with my festool extractor, the fine dust still gets everywhere, also, we tested some with a lighter, it’s burnt with rancid black smoke, I’d also say the PIR boards are more hazardous to health, it’ll be banned, it should be banned.

It's ok if covered with plasterboard then it's 30 minute fire safe in which the fire would likely burn itself out anyway from lack of fuel

No way Building Control would let you get away with that

Hi there, thank you for getting in touch. Full fill insulation is permitted under BS 5250 which is the code of practice for control of condensation in buildings. Full fill in a pitched roof application is acceptable where you have a breathable roof covering under the standard. It is also cited in S.R. 82:2017 which is the Code of Practice for Slating and Tiling where it is recognised that full fill mineral wool is compressible and won't hinder the job of the roofing membrane. Please contact the technical department for further information www.isover.ie/contact-our-technical-team

Rockwool far better than this stuff. You need a 50mm air gap unless you use breathable roofing felt. Wouldnt use any kind of glass or [insert name] mineral wool.
@IsoverIreland5 жыл бұрын
Hi there, our mineral wool creates a fully breathable roof system in conjunction with a low resistance underlay and air-permeable roof finish and a well-sealed ceiling in accordance with BS 5250 and therefore doesn’t need the 50mm air gap. Risks due to building failures can be further mitigated through the use of the Isover Vario airtightness system. For further details, please contact our technical department www.isover.ie/contact-our-technical-team or check out our courses at the Saint-Gobain Technical Academy - www.saint-gobain.ie/technical-academy

It's good to know that the 50mm air gap is not necessary when there is a breathable membrane. That's music to my ears as I went and bought the stuff the same width as my rafters not thinking about it. For the comment about rockwool. It's not in the same league as Metac sorry. Rockwoll won't stay in the rafters. It breaks up easily and itches like nothing else

What about the 50mm air gap required between insulation and felt? Surely this will cause condensation build up?
@IsoverIreland5 жыл бұрын
Hi Joe, if it’s a breathable roof covering (natural slate, concrete roof tile or fibre cement slate with battens and counter-battens and a low resistance underlay) a ventilated space is not required. If it’s a not breathable roof covering (fibre cement slates with only counter-battens or bituminous felt) a 50mm continuous ventilated space is required all in accordance with BS5250. Best thing to do is to check with our technical team to see if the roof meets these requirements www.isover.ie/contact-our-technical-team

In my area building control won’t let you install this stuff as it soaks up condensation.
@IsoverIreland6 жыл бұрын
Hi Slashley, insulation on its own doesn’t cause condensation. Incorrect detailing and not using the correct method of vapour control may lead to condensation. We would be happy to do a u-value calculation and condensation risk analysis if you want to contact the tech dept with the construction details.

1.Should be a gap between the ISOVER metac and the roof 2.Two layers of Isover metac rools - first vertically and second horizontally 3. Aluminium Channel U or C shape on the top 4. On the aluminum construction ISOVER VARIO® KB1 tape and finally STOPAIR ISOVER membrane ( half price - around 55eur for 67.5m2 ! in EU ) or most expensive VARIO® XTRASAFE - ISOVER VARIO DOUBLE FIT

Does there need to be a gap between the insulation and roof tiles?
@IsoverIreland6 жыл бұрын
Hi Ryan, it depends on the type of roof tile and roofing felt that are used and whether they are ‘air open’ or not. Best thing to do would be to contact our Technical Team: www.isover.ie/contact-our-technical-team

@@jlewis1688 i agree. they completely ignore the fact that air needs to flow between the roof and the insulation. and before you know it, you'll have spent a lot of money on your insulation and you end up with damp and mould issues
