Fantastic video! I had the same problem with my dryer and just fixed it myself with these instructions. My Maytag Centennial has the lint filter on the top and there are two screws that need to come out, and a connector between the front panel and the body. Otherwise it was just like this. And I even made money! Found ten bucks worth of change on the bottom. If yours is as dirty on the inside as mine was, vacuum it out while you're in there. All that lint is a fire hazard. The squeal was awful!! It's like fingers on a chalkboard but so loud it would leave my ears ringing for hours after doing laundry.

Can I use some silicone, mineral oil or chainsaw oil for lubrication?

Yes sir, the thicker the lube the longer it will most likely last

Star Brite has been around since at least the mid 70s. I believe it was the first synthetic polish and wax. Any product that's still in business after 50 years must be a good product. I used it to polish motorcycles and found it to be the best polish/wax in the mid 70s.

What kind of lubricant did you use?
@atlanticcoastfishing9235

After doing this a few times now lithium grease “garage door” lubricant in a spray can appears to work best. It lasted almost a year

Hi there! Stumbled upon this video and wanted to ask- the roller on the right, should it be able to push and pull about an inch forward and back? It has the little plastic washers on both the left and right rollers, but theyre slightly different in this regard. Any ideas? My daughter says the dryer sounds like "a turkey" 😂 (she's young) thanks! (P.S. not having the same issue with the wheel on the belt, not sure exactly where the squeek is coming from but i plan on cleaning the rollers / wheels and lubricating them
@atlanticcoastfishing9235
@atlanticcoastfishing9235 10 ай бұрын
So the rollers have some play in them, not sure if it’s an inch. If the roller isn’t ready to come off you should be fine but without being able to look at it it’s hard to tell. If it’s loud like a turkey it’s probably just a lubrication issue. I would lube the rollers and put it to use. If it still makes a noise then I would replace that roller. They’re fairly cheap and super easy to change out.

@atlanticcoastfishing9235 wow thanks for the speedy reply! Yeah an inch may be an exaggeration, but yeah they seem a little rough to spin. Thanks!

I tend to follow the recommendations of the product. So in this case I polish and then wax because the polish cleans the surface as well.

Thanks. Ours was making the noise a lot. Opened it up. Was afraid to remove the drum, so I lubricated any pulley or wheel I could get to, missing only the one on the left. When I restarted it, it made noise but not as much. After about 10 minutes running, it almost stopped completely. Whenever it gets worse, I may do again and remove the drum too.
