DONT USE THE SAME CLOTH to clean the metal bed as the rest of your computer In fact i use a good strong Washing Up Liquid (Fairy in UK) Then wash off and DRY

That amount of grease is too much. Not a problem but a waste. Secondly but VERY important do not operate the printer like that when off. It will cause back voltage; nowadays drivers are protected but still vulnerable. Also the pressure applied on the gantry can cause alignment issues, lead screws bending etc. Use the display to move the lubed parts or just lift it up then clean and regrease, hit home.

I ran through this exact install about a week or so ago, also on an 8GB RPi4. Interesting notes about the USB vs SD thing, I didn't think about that. Mine runs fine across the local network off the SD Card but I haven't given it a proper test with multiple players just yet. One thing I do find curious is you didn't get any errors about Java during your install. Mine wouldn't let me start the Pinecraft configuration without intentionally installing Java before it and rebooting. After that, no issues whatsoever. It's back enough now that I don't recall the specifics of my command orders but I'm fairly sure I did perform the apt update in the right order too. I'm also still waiting to see the update speed and frequency of this service in relation to the Minecraft version updates, as well as how we are able to update versions on our hosts. This package still installs version 1.20.2, but Minecraft's latest java-based version that installs by default is 1.20.4.

USB definitely provided better results for me but if an SD card works, don't fix what's not broke! No errors about such thing even after many more servers and redos for friends. Hopefully it doesn't happen for you again. Not sure how the support will continue as I believe is a project someone does in their free time.
