The home match, Palace's first in the top flight, was 50 years ago this weekend. I only went to take a girlfriend who fancied George Best. I haven't seen the girl for almost 50 years but I have a season ticket at palace so I see the team at most home matches.

My first game was that Old Trafford game v Palace. I remember it well. My Dad had died & my neighbour (Charlie Hugill) & his older cousins knew I was a Man United fan. They took me on the Crystal Palace supporters trip to Manchester. My eyes were like saucers. I was gutted about the Sewell goal but it was a great day & they even took us into the pub for beers. Can’t dislike Palace.

I was at selhurst that day, i was 7 years old and the only way i could see was sitting on my dads shoulders, we were in the new stand and it was absolutely packed, this was only my 2nd palace match, but liked it so much this game made me a palace fan for life, as is my son now ! Great, great memories....
