My jack somehow fell off my bumper on the freeway, I had an antenna mounted on the jack and the coax cable ran through the jack cover and held the jack with tire noise I didn't hear it some girls got beside me and pointed to the back of my Jeep, I stopped. The only thing wrong was one of the climbing pins was ground and the cross pins were bent. I just installed the repair kit and when I put the switch to up and only the top pin is flush.

I have a 45 yr old jack- will this kit work? I believe it says only will work on newer jacks

If it has a metal handle with a round handle socket, it should work. But it has to be a Hi-Lift or Handyman brand Jack.

Hi, I bought one at a yard sale for $80 but when I got it home I discovered that it wasn't working. After watching your video I was able to determine that the pins were rusted in place. Some PB and a ball peen got it functioning again. Now I can go pull out some trees and order a repair kit for it.

I paid $100 for this hilift jack and when i release the lever, the whole thing slides freely and drops my load. No ratcheting mode like with previous hilift jacks ive owned. Very dissapointing and makes this $100 purchase useless.

How can you get those lug nuts off when blocked by the straps? You can't loosen the nuts once they are on a jack stand either.
@G55-j9z3 жыл бұрын
You crack the lug nuts before you put the jack in place and then lift the vehicle.
@hiliftjacks3 жыл бұрын
You'll need to block the load and take the Lift Mate off the wheel in order to be able to remove the tire for maintenance. Don't ever use the Hi-Lift to support the lifted load.

Can I remove the cotter pin that goes through the base that holds it to the hi-lifts i-beam and weld on the base to the beam? Or what does other purpose does the cotter pin and base serve beside being The Base of the Jack? Does it play sort of a ''pivot'' role to the i-beam?
@hiliftjacks3 жыл бұрын
You can remove the cotter pin to take the base off, and to replace it. We highly recommend against welding the base to the beam. The flexibility that the cotter pin provides in allowing some pivot is best for keeping the Jack from getting up on the edge of the base and sliding out.

How about what to do if the jack is stuck up - holding up one wheel of a cargo van?
@hiliftjacks4 жыл бұрын
Good question, Cort. 9 times out of 10, a jack won't come down due to lack of lubrication. Be sure to lubricate your jack well prior to use and follow instructions listed in the manual that came with your jack.

I read an amazon review where the guy complained he could not move the lever while attempting to pull a stump. Maybe he was exceeding the weight lifting capacity of of the jack? What do you guys think. I want to get one of these to pull stumps. thanks
@hiliftjacks4 жыл бұрын
Not sure what he would be referring to. There is no lever that you would want to move during pulling stumps. If you have any additional questions, please email [email protected]. Thanks.
@cubehire36534 жыл бұрын
@@hiliftjacks the guy was talking about the lever to jack up the jack, to move it higher. he said he could not move it so he used a extension and broke the jack. I figured he exceeded the weight capacity of the jack trying to pull up a big stump. My idea is to get one of these and pull up a bunch of small stumps. These jacks look like the jacks my father had in his cars back in the 1960s, only bigger. thank you for replying it is appreciated.

I just got one of these Jack's. I've been needing one for a long time so my uncle found one abandoned at his deer lease. It's real old and pretty worn out actually it's going to need new cast parts so it's going to cost more to repair than replacing. I will get a new one as long as it's made in the USA I think we have enough of made in china. Leveling my shipping container will haft to wait a little longer.

For switching or changing tires.....Wouldn't placing a jack stand under the front/rear axle off camber like that and lowering the weight of the Jeep cause the jack stand to slip?? Even if the jack stand was on a flat hard surface.

@mikem44325 күн бұрын
if our rims are made of aluminum.. It might. Steel are not likely to bend or break.. either way,. they are not designed for that.. they are designed to hold the tire, and the tires hold the weight.. not the other way around.
