Honestly, my son and I are following his obsession and just starting to learn, so I don't know. Do you have any tips for helping us learn?

@ there are types of trains and there all start either 1 or 2 letters. Like F, GP, SD, and some others. If you have some local train tracks you could research some trains that come through on KZbin by searching The area you are in and record that train if you can manage to. If you can get that it will help you understand them a little more cuz they are in full scale. If he doesn’t really like loud sounds recommending some ear protection cuz the train horns range from about 110 decibels to about 175 decibels. Basically saying all it takes is resources, research, and seeing some actual trains, you will need a tripod for seeing the full scale trains.

Good job on the project! I was surprised that you freehand did this! I was thinking you could use a small electric saw to lessen fatigue for you. But I think you did great!

Thank you! Yes, I think some different tools would have helped a lot, but sometimes you have to work with what you've got! At least I got some good arm workouts.

@JustaBoywhoLovesTrains its mostly time and just finding out I've also found out about some locomotives due to games and books. I could recommend Wikipedia to research certain locomotives or just search up things like "Amtrak Fleet"

I grew up in Jacksonville, That Wilimington waterfront one is awesome. My grandmother also worked at Lionel in Michigan in the 70s, wish I would not have destoryed the train set she gave me and my brother.
