Just found your channel and really enjoyed that video. The waterfall images looked great, especially the one at end, really like how you captured the dynamic flow against the solid rocks, makes a great composition 👍

Usually people do these around the new year, and after a bunch more videos, but hey ho. I am personally surprised how much you shoot with the 24-105... I usually end up going wide or long for landscape stuff.... I just find that anything in a "normal" zoom focal length often looks like other photos and don't really differentiate. I also hold the same gear (although a 24-70 F2.8 instead of the 24-105) and more (can fit a prime or 2 or a backup body) in a much smaller bag (31L), and thats with snacks, layers, etc. Always interesting to see people's gear and always great to see someone new putting out videos... Keep it up!
@jeff_freestone29 күн бұрын
I would never have thought there was a time of year people do these videos. Interesting. I see what you mean by shooting with a mid range zoom and that it gives a pretty standard look. However, I use the lens that will give me the look I want rather than shooting with something because it may provide a different look to others. If anything I’d say the wide angle is the most used lens by landscape photographers and had been for a while now. I am actually looking for a smaller bag as I’d like something I can take on short trips. I need that size bag because it needs to fit my video gear / equipment which I didn’t mention in this video. Cheers
@IanElson2812 күн бұрын
Interesting you don't have a polariser lens in the bag? I have a DSLR, and use a similar focal range you do. Mostly woodland, ancient and newer plantations here on Cannock chase in the UK. Can't understand why I haven't found your channel before. Best wishes.
@jeff_freestone12 күн бұрын
@@IanElson28thanks Ian - just started doing KZbin and enjoying the process of making videos. I do actually own a polarise but rarely use it. I think if I shot more water scenes I would use it but it’s just one extra thing to think about that slows the process down.
@IanElson2812 күн бұрын
@@jeff_freestone mine is used to saturated colours and take the shine off foliage, not many shots of water for me either. Looking forward to the journey ahead for you.
@jeff_freestone12 күн бұрын
@@IanElson28 yeah ok. Both valid. The saturation is useful but I tend to prefer control over saturation in post. The shine off foliage is probably the one instance I could use it for. There have been instances where I have thought I could have used it but hasn’t ruined the images enough for me to start using it more. Thanks for watching and commenting

Hi Jeff. You sound more comfortable talking to the camera. I really love these gums. Especially with the really sliver trunks and strips of bark, that at first, strike me as looking like blood on the tree. Each winter I visit my sister on the outskirts of Omeo and are always amazed at how each tree is totally unique. Love how sharp and clear the focus is on the individual drops of water are on the leaves. Well done. Erika

Hi Erika - thank you again for your comment and feedback. So you are familiar with the region. It’s a stunning area and so much to explore. The transformation the alpine goes through in winter is my favourite time of year and hope to film a few videos up in the snow this year.
