How do you hold the rack down to your ski?
@WeekendersontheWater6 күн бұрын
I used these ratchet straps. I put one through the back of the rack and through both eyelets on the back of the ski, being sure to angle it up towards the rack and away from the IBR system. I put the other ratchet strap on the front and through the eyelet behind the seat. This was for the 2017 SeaDoo. amzn.to/4c4qHvH

From what I can tell, they discontinued Liquid Rollers. Also, that seems like a lot of pressure/stress on the end of the bunks when winching the skis back on. Gotta do whacha gotta do, though.
@WeekendersontheWater14 күн бұрын
Yes they did, unfortunately. I am aware of this product that seems to be similar, although I've yet to try it. As for the stress on the ends of the bunks, you are correct. But I've not had one snap on me yet. Even if they do it's just a pressure treated 2x4 and a little bit of bunk carpeting, so I'm not too concerned about it. amzn.to/3VXNGm3

@WeekendersontheWater16 күн бұрын
I didn't explain it in the video, but you can reach it with a 90° clamp. Although I still think it's best to just take off the cover. Put a t30 and a 10 mil in your emergency kit. As long as the ski is floating it's easy enough to remove, if the ski is sinking quickly tow it to the nearest beach at slow speed and then clamp.

One Switch made the crossing with us on this ride and it could be a great alternative to a ski, however we know there were people in their 60’s on this ride. The group was moving fairly slow. It was a bit of a rough day to start out, and we were only heading about 20 mph. We stopped for about 20 minutes in the middle, and again another 10 minutes to afix our flags. I personally did not have a GPS, but I have navtronics on my phone which works an airplane mode, and a VHF radio with GPS coordinates as well. And of course we had a personal locator beacon each. But as far as navigation goes, I just followed the ski in front of me.

That is a difficult topic. We were lucky to not have anyone break down during the ride. There were a few issues on the island. One guy had to get his ski shipped home. Another managed to fix it on the island. I've heard on other groups that some times they just let the skis go if the start to sink, and follow up with their insurance company. Because I have two, my plan was to tow one with the other of needed.
