Dr Lori’s “schtick” is the bombastic know-it-all. If you don’t like her change the channel (don’t watch her). Antiques Roadshow feature knowledgeable polite appraisers. Also, remember Economics 101: value of anything is what someone is willing to pay

@@mrstacyj9496 yeah but I did like her, and my mom liked her whether she was rude, loud, or bombastic. That is why I paid so much for her service and then to be let down, given ‘googled’ and generic appraisals and information, and conflicting appraisals less than two weeks apart from each other. It’s not about her show, it’s about people paying over a grand for very incorrect and bad information. I did not say it like that in this video, but after posting it , the amount of people contacting me with similar and much worse stories astounded me. Scamming 101: Make them trust you. (Also, yes I go with your saying too! 😎I honestly didn’t care about the prices as much as I was looking for the identification and the answers to those were very bad and sometimes wrong as well, I honestly felt like I needed to show this so others would not waste their money on this service.) anyways this was way to long and sorry for all the typos. I am way to in love with voice to text

How do you re-foil a rhinestone?
@OlivesVintageMarket
@OlivesVintageMarket 24 күн бұрын
@@Jupefires it’s a bit of a task and it takes a little bit of learning, but it’s simple once you get the hang of it first you need to remove all of the old backing and glue from the original rhinestone. Next, you’ll need a glue or a jewelers varnish and put a very thin light coat on the back of the rhinestone, some gold or silver leaf or jewelers foil and press down firmly and coat the back of the rhinestone that you’ll need to seal that also with a little bit more jewelers varnish or something like clear nail polish then Your stone will be refoiled!

So glad I found this video! Had considered using Lori but was on the fence because I saw her give an awful appraisal of opal to a viewer while berating the viewer in the process. Okay, so she only pretends to know opal when she's actually clueless, but everything else? Your plate devaluation in two weeks time was INSANE!! What a slap to the face. I would have pursued that refund due to the plate alone and I personally will NOT be using her.

@@joannmaxwell4117 I just have a little bit of dental wax that people use on braces and mold it into a little point and put it on on a toothpick and it works really well to pick up the rhinestones. The little tag on my hand is actually just a sticker that people use to like mark things in their freezer and stuff so it’s waterproof and I put it on my hand and put my glue on that so I’m not constantly scraping my hand through glue on a piece of paper or some thing that I have laying on my desk because I have stuck my hand/arm in glue more times than I can count, lol.

Do you have any tips on how to replace large cabachons? I've seen people use 2 part epoxy, but wanted your take on that particular glue. Would Gorilla glue suffice? Also, I have a piece I'm trying to restore, but the rhinestones are glued in so well they won't come out no matter what I do. I tried soaking in boiling water, but those blighters are stuck fast. Any suggestions?
@OlivesVintageMarket
@OlivesVintageMarket 2 ай бұрын
Who sometimes rhinestones are glued in with superglue and boiling water won’t even take those out so depending on the finish of the piece, you may need to do some chipping away at the surface to allow water to get in there and sometimes acetone can help with superglue, but also if you have a little bit of mineral oil to play on it every once in a while That can help chemically damage to allow them to be loosened. I would be happy to take a look at it if you would like to send a picture to my email address and I could help a little bit better.

@@saveyourselves5923 also, the adhesive you use is usually or can usually be set upon your preference and your needs. I prefer the gorilla glue for most of my jobs. It allows for better precision, faster setting and it still gives just as strong as a hold to me now the differences is if you have something very heavy or in a really odd weird shape can actually be beneficial, but it does take a long time to set and even the five minute ones that set in like five minutes they’re not completely harden for like 48 hours. You have to be careful not to allow Dustin stuff in them so that’s the reason I prefer the gorilla glue and it’s still good for a large cabin, because most cabins aren’t very large so you can use the gorilla glue but once again it’s all preference you can use it. I just find that the gorilla glue is already a two-part glue that has to be shaken very well to make sure it has that strong hold while epoxy you can have Miss steps and mixing it and all other things things so I prefer the gorilla glue but part of epoxy is good as well.
