It's kind of ironic how without the fog I feel like the town would appear less cohesive and I'd get lost way easier... but that actually seems kind of perfect in the context of the game.

there are so many channels like this.. you can just sense they are reading off a wiki. or maybe the topic is interesting so you hop on wiki to read more about the topic and you read for 5 minutes and basically, somehow, have their entire 30min script, often word by word.

i watched this guy's smb1 video as background noise a while ago and i did think it felt a little Off but couldnt place my finger on why. very disappointed to find out it's just wiki reading. i love seeing cool unused stuff in games and it wouldve been cool that they're putting more eyes on if they weren't just directly copying what the tcrf says...or if they at least were honest about making lazy content. i wonder if they even care about video games. also apparently youre like..one of the founders of the the cutting room floor wiki!??! thats kind of awesome...

The good news is that he's actually properly crediting people in his videos now! It could definitely be frustrating when hours of findings and research gets uploaded by a guy who has a bigger channel and more recognition than the original. I feel like if he asked you permission to make a video checking out TCRF, then it would've been ok. I also LOVE how he said that this was his own initial research. If he is a researcher than I'm a fucking scientist because I've read so many Wikipedia entries

nobody is saying he has to find his own discoveries to be able to make a video. it helps, but the problem here is that he stole all the words and didn't bother to even try and understand what he was talking about. the problem is more notable in the smw video because he just straight up gets shit wrong.

imo you should have enough knowledge to know what you're talking about. you don't have to be a modder or hacker or researcher, but you should be familiar enough to know the concepts, how things work, etc. if you don't know anything, you end up doing things the original video does; rewriting things and getting them wrong, because you don't understand it. you don't have to be a rocket scientist to report on launches and missions, but you should at least know what end points towards space.

This sucks tbh, TCRF has so many interested stuff that you could make into a video by itself (like focusing on one category, on a series of unused rooms, etc), hell, you could even try to expand upon what the TCRF team and its collaborators had done and maybe give a better explanation, a different representation or make it easier to understand for people that don't know much about programming and stuff that unused on the code or had difficult reading and understanding a lot of the more complex and technical stuff on TCRF, but you know, that would actually require effort :b. I wish more people actually respected TCRF and Hidden palace more, their works is super valuable to know how games were and are still made, how devs prioritized certains aspects due to limited developments, stuff that has been just scrapped all together due to certain factors that could had been really cool or awful, instead of just plagiarism them, like their hard work is only meant to be stolen and regurgitated like it had no value, I feel sorry for pages and wikis that had to suffer this constantly :/
