I have an old cementious stucco finish. I want to go over it with STO elastomeric acrylic stucco. Should I use STOPrime Sand first?

Why didn’t u use double bottom plate and have bottom plate extend to support the R9 panel. That metal is expensive and labor intensive.

He is right about his tips. I'm doing this starting today 5/02/24. Just me! I'm a DIY'er and took on radiant floors myself instead of leaving it to my contractor. I got the Warmboard with the aluminum foil. Expensive, but this will be my primary heat.

That's awesome! Taking on radiant floors yourself is a big project, but it sounds like you're up for the challenge. The Warmboard with aluminum foil should provide excellent heat. Best of luck with your project, and I hope it turns out exactly as you envision!

Does this solution pose any issues with water draining underneath the foundation? Or is the amount of water too insignificant to make a difference?
@HansonCarlen
@HansonCarlen 11 ай бұрын
There shouldn't be enough water to pose any problems. Even on a day with heavy snow, it's likely only about a gallon of water that will eventually evaporate or soak into the gravel below.

@HansonCarlen Жыл бұрын
We appreciate your comment! Natural gas has been a reliable preferred choice for us too. Living and building homes in Washington state, we've encountered a shift towards heat pumps. Sadly, this change comes in response to a state-wide restriction on the use of natural gas in new construction projects.

Great video! We looked at ecowarm and warmboard for our 3300 sq, 2 story house and decided to go with a gypcrete pour instead as it was by far the most cost efficient option. Payback for ecowarm over the gypcrete was 25 years and warmboard I’ve gypcrete was 50 years

@@mcltadros Did you compare monthly cost also. I’m looking at easy to keep overall temp due to closer to surface, ability to install hardwood floors. Also the whole system involved in Warmboard, wireless thermostats. I appreciate any input you have.
@mcltadros
@mcltadros Жыл бұрын
@@Iamanoufan Although I am a mechanical engineer, I am not a expert in this field so please take my advise with a grain of salt. Warmboard/ecowarm both claim higher efficiencies over gypcrete and understandably so do to the aluminum laminate they both use as a heat spreader. My math was 10%-15% operational savings (monthly or yearly) for ecowarm over the gypcrete and 25%-30% for warmboard over gypcrete. The problem is that the upfront investment will take decades to recoup. I can get the gypcrete pour for $10k, ecowarm for $30k and warmboard for $50k. The rest of the components won't really vary in costs. Once installed, you will never physically feel the difference between any of these systems, although your wallet might ;-) Regarding finished floor, we are doing engineered wood and tile only so we will glue all engineered wood and thinset all tile directly to the gypcrete. If your doing regular hardwood check with the manufacture if you can glue only or you need to nail it down. Ecowarm lets you nail directly to their panel but you won't be able to thinset directly to the panel, you'll need a layer of cement board screwed to the panels 1st. Warmboard can be nailed and tiled directly although the nailing will be a bit more challenging due to the thicker aluminum laminate as compared to ecowarm (also makes panel install harder). Don't get to hung up on the "whole system" concept. All the components, i.e. boiler, thermostats, manifolds, are all HVAC industry standard items so you could mix and match if you have a preference. We'll be using apple home friendly thermostats. The "whole system" concept is more of a convenience question. I would also recommend reaching out to a structural engineer in order to determine whether or not your house can handle the additional load of the gypcrete (that's the only area where I see a real advantage to using the panels, they are a fraction of the weight). Hope that helps!

1:20 were you required to put a water barrier behind the Rockwool? Or was the Rockwool considered adequate for the purpose of shedding water? I'd also be really curious to see how you do door and window installations with it.
@HansonCarlen
@HansonCarlen 2 жыл бұрын
The rock wool does have great water shedding properties but we did carefully wrap the project with Tyvek warp behind the Rockwool. The purpose of using Tyvek was we wanted to a wrap that was permeable from the inside out that would let any moisture out that might build up over a winter into the rockwool/rain screen and let it dry. The window and door installations are all done with extension jambs.
