Ricky had 4 kids. The Twins, Daughter Tracy who was in Down and Out in Beverly Hills, and The Father Dowling Mysteries, and Sam who also sings in a band called H Is Orange, and solo as well. He looks a lot like his Dad, but also favors his Uncle Mark Harmon from NCIS. The guitarist is the legendary James Burton, who most recognize as Elvis' guitarist from 69-77.

The "girl group" sound was basically doo wop with all female singers or a female lead singer, but often with no bass singer because females can't sing that low. In the case of the Orlons and the Exciters, the male singer is doing the bass lines. In the case of the Miracles or the Platters, they were a doo wop group, with a female singer as a backing singer. In the case of the Skyliners, another doo wop group with a female singer, the female sang the descant, a high part that goes above the rest of the singing, including the lead singer. Check out their song "Since I Don't Have You." Occasionally, a girl group would be a female lead with all male back up singers, like the Ad Libs who sang "The Boy From New York City." Other songs by the Orlons you need to hear are "Don't Hang Up" and "South Street." And yes, the "Batusi" is a parody of the "Watusi." Music History lesson done. Don't worry, there won't be a test.

I heard yesterday (15th Aug 24) that Nick's 'One of these things first' is on Obama's current playlist. I'm 69 and was listening to him when I was 20. So chilled, drift away, esp after a smoke. Five Leaves Left refers to Rizlas. They used to put a blank in the packet to warn you that you only had five left. Don't think lyrics have particular meaning, just poetic and moody.

Thank you for doing this video ❤about a song my father, Don Ciccone, wrote as a teenager about my mother before they married. That may explain the title as he was famously interested in word play and puns (think endless dad jokes). My brother and I are starting work on a podcast about a memoir he wrote right before he passed away in 2016. ❤ loved your insightful and researched commentary!

Love your Bee Gee reactions of the brothers (Barry, Robin, & Maurice) The Bee Gees were more than just disco! I’m not sure if you’ve reacted to any of these, but here’s a list with my interpretation of what genre I think they fall under: just disregard the ones you’ve already reacted to. Too Much Heaven (R&B) How Deep Is Your Love (R&B Ballard) Staying Alive (disco) Night Fever (disco) You Should Be Dancing (R&B or disco) Fanny be tender with my love (R&B) Jive Talking (R&B) Nights on Broadway (R&B/Funk) Tragedy (Techno? Pop) More than a woman (Disco/R&B) Love you inside out (Funk/pop) To love somebody (R&B) Massachusetts (pop/country) Wind of Change (funk/r&b), live 1975 from the Midnight Special) Alone (pop) Love So Right (R&B) Words (pop, 1979 Spirits Tour) Lonely Days (pop) You Win Again (pop) Run to Me (pop) How Can you mend a broken heart (R&B) Kiss of Life (rock) One (pop) Wedding Day (pop) Rest Your Love on Me Awhile (country) Bodyguard (R&B) Blue Island - live (pop) Our Love, Don't Throw it all away-Bee Gee's or Andy's version (pop) Secret Love (pop) This is Where I Came in (live) (pop) The 1989 One for all tour medley (excellent vocals & some humor) If you want to see them (the Bee Gees) and how they work in the studio try: (A) the making of their song "Tragedy" from 1979 (B) The making of the song "Just in Case" (C) The making of the video "This is Where I Came in" from their last cd in 2001 Some that only the avid Bee Gee fans might know that you might want to react to: My Lover’s Prayer (pop ballard) Letting Go (pop ballard) Subway (R&B) You Stepped Into My life (Funk/r&b) Children of the World (pop) Search, Find (pop or R&B) Songs written by Barry Gibb (that other artists sung) -- alone or with his brothers (Robin & Maurice Gibb): If I Can't Have You (Yvonne Elliman) Woman in Love ( Barbra Streisand). In fact, The Bee Gees wrote every song on her Guilty CD, and Barry did 2 duets with her. And he did most of the background vocals on a lot of the songs. Islands in the Stream (Kenny Rogers & Dolly Partons). In fact, The Bee Gees wrote all the songs on Kenny's "Eyes that See in the Dark" CD with Barry doing a lot of background vocals. Heartbreaker (Deion Warwick). In fact, The Bee Gees wrote every song on this CD too. The Bee Gees also did the Background vocals. Chain Reaction (Diana Ross) and yes, The Bee Gees wrote all the songs on this CD too. Barry also did the background vocals. Immortality (Celine Dion) The Bee Gees also sung background. The live 1997 from Vegas is excellent! More Than a Woman (Tavares) Love Me (Yvonne Elliman) Come on Over (Olivia Newton John) Emotions (Samantha Sang, with a lot of background vocals with Barry). Destiny's Child also recorded it. Grease--from the movie (Frankie Valli) Heart Beating in Time (Leo Sayer) Let me wake up in your arms (Lulu), who use to be married to Maurice Gibb A lot of Andy Gibb songs (Shadow Dancing, Everlasting Love, Love is Thicker than Water, Our Love, Don't Throw It Away; Desire;)

Ciccone wrote this song about the girl who would become his wife and by the time it charted he had since enlisted in the Air Force to avoid being drafted during Viet Nam. As a result if you check out live videos during the era his voice is lip-sung. I was in the Air Force myself at the time and I can't imagine how hard it must have been for him to be at once famous and pulling KP in the 05 squadron at Langley.

Great song and best use of maracas ever! What made this different from 60’s pop is the Jazz chords- very sophisticated stuff.
