Will this help with oil consumption? Mine uses a quart of oil for every full tank of fuel.

No the valve clearance has nothing to do with that, could be passing the valve stem seals but it's most likely passing the piston rings, you'd have to do a compression test and a leak down test to see

Mine is doing the same as the 500 ho. I have a 2005 500 ho and it just recently started to be hard to start. Have to do the same as touching the throttle a lil. Will this also cause the machine to turn over slowly, because ever since it started this problem it turns over so slow

No I don't think it would cause that, if anything it should be easier to roll if a valves hanging open, your battery could be getting old, starter could be dirty, I'd check also the air intake for restriction, try it without the airbox lid and filter, one time I had one with just a really dirty air filter caused hard starting and it didn't run right

Same issue as the other one? What was the issue that it was having. Mine is hard to turn over when it has spark plugs installed and when the plugs are removed it turns over nicely.

Tip, adjust with the feeler gauge in place and you won’t have to guess.

Can someone help my Polaris sportsman 500 4x4 we put two engine of the same kind together and it cranks and cranks but don’t start or nothing not even on starter fluid

valves too tight? i find theyre like that if the intake valves are hanging open a bit, do you have it timed correctly?

has to be done when the cam lobe is not pushing on the rocker arm at all, I think its called the base circle, that's where you would measure the clearance, when the engine is on the compression stroke all valves are closed so that's where you need it

Bike didn't want to idle when cold, had to hold the throttle to keep it running until warmed up

How do you rotate the crankshaft to find tdc? I see the drive cover is still on.

I take the spark plug out so it's easy to roll and use a ratchet on the cam sprocket bolt. with the plug out I put a screwdriver in the hole to find TDC
