Back in 2010..2011 I helped a shrimp boat captain do some welding on his shrimp boat that was tied up on the dock at east coast seafood next to one of the vessels.. The owners were very nice folks from up north and he was a retired navy officer. They had been working their asses off making the vessel their home. I believe one of them may had medical problems or worse.. I would love to see if there was a way to claim and restore these vessels and use them in a productive manner.
@JeffreyJDavis4 ай бұрын
@@harrybyrd2121 both boats have now been legally declared "abandoned" , which opens the door for them to be cleaned, drained and towed out to be sunk as artificial reefs

Looks like the Taxpayers of South Carolina who cannot even afford to visit that part of the state will be on the hook for cleaning up the mess. We sure don't want to jeopardize the view and inconvenience all the Rich people who live in that area.

Those are both surplus Navy vessels. The larger one is a 120' torpedo weapon retriever, possibly ex-TWR-821, which was auctioned off in 2019. The small craft is a captain's gig. The Navy eliminated those from all ships in 2008 and presumably auctioned them off. In the current Google Earth satellite image, you can see both vessels anchored together just off the Cherry Point Boat Landing
@JeffreyJDavis4 ай бұрын
Thanks Mike, several of us were guessing it was possibly TWR-841 based on travel history and the paint over on the bow. Thanks for your insight.
@mikehodges65984 ай бұрын
@@JeffreyJDavis TWR-841 would have been my second guess. Looking at the paint covering port side bow hull number the third digit is clearly a "1"

This song has a double meaning for me. First meaning: a depressed person having a conversation with themselves. The internal battle of wanting to “snap out of it” and the other part of them finding so much solace in the melancholy. 2nd meaning - Trying to love a depressed person when you are depressed yourself. Wanting badly for them to hold on because you do everything in your power to hold on and even to hold on to them too. But they seem like they are not even trying or looking to get better.

Nice vid, thanks. Question about the A1. At 5:10 when the Oystercatcher flies it loses focus. How long to usually reacquire focus? Thank you for any replies.
@JeffreyJDavis Жыл бұрын
Thomas thanks for watching. Actually this footage was VERY early in my experimentation with video on A1, prior to really learning any of the proper settings for video. You have two controls for tracking focus, subject shift sensitivity (1 - 5) and tracking speed (1 - 7). I think this was probably set on 3 and 3 when I took this. On sensitivity 1 (locked on) and tracking speed 7 (fastest), I'm pretty sure it would have stayed focused. What you noticed is photographer error not camera issue. I'm not saying A1 is perfect, it will still lose subject occasionally but it's pretty damn good. On 1 (locked on) it will usually instantly grab the subject even if you have moved camera and subject has left and re-entered frame.

@@JeffreyJDavis Tgsnks for the reply. I was just curious. Like when a Green Heron makes its strike. Same thing most likely it would be hard for it to keep up for any system. Today’s AF systems are game changers as far as keeper rates go.

@@JeffreyJDavis Now that is fast AF & what I'm looking for. Don't know I can swallow the $6500 price tag plus new lenses. I' mean I could pull it off but...! Can't see getting the A1 without the 600 f4 or at least the 400 f2.8.

I knew Matthew in Vancouver when he played in a duo called Sons of Granville with Thomas Beckman playing viola and Matthew on guitar. They would always draw a big crowd busking in Downtown Vancouver all year. I stopped and would chat occasionally as couldn't believe their original music. I was sorry when Matthew decided to become a wandering busker globally but he followed his dreams and did so. Now I believe he lives in England. Nice to have had someone on Twitter find this for me as had wondered what had happened to him as he left Twitter some years past. If you happen to know how to contact him at all, do send him my good wishes from Vancouver and remind him how I took him out for a lunch before he left Vancouver - noodles it was as his choice. 😊
