A shame that anything negative is taken down, you can tell from the replies below because original criticisms disappear. I will try here and I hope it's taken as constructive critique. Emily is good, no doubt. But struggled a lot on the low notes especially 1:18 "as they tear your hope apart." The word "apart" needs to be held (listen to the best performers), but she doesn't have that range and you can tell she just wanted to get the word over with, as it's barely audible. Also, the lyric is 'tear' your hope not 'turn' your hope. And then, it's turn your 'dream,' not turn your 'dreams.' Hence the title, 'I dreamed a dream.' Yes, it's being particular, but would someone this serious about performing not want to get it right? They become good because they are perfectionists who want to improve. This video being 5 years old, I would bet she does it much better now. Plus, in 5 years of life from 18 to 23, you'd have to think she has more real life experience to feel the emotions. I know her job is to act, but she overacted at times, especially 2:01 to 2:08. Again, it's good, OK? I'm simply saying she went to a musical theater school (a good one) to get even better, right? I'd imagine she graduated by now, so I'd love to see her do an update and post it.
