GenX-ers reminiscing about their past. Analog audio has long gone, it became outdated when CDs came out. Pressed or recorded media is not needed anymore, you can download any music you want from the Net. If you want to keep it within reach, sure, make your own copy, drop it on an external HDD/SSD and burn a BD as well, store them in different locations, this will be your own very physical stash. But printing, stamping, recording music en masse is not needed anymore and is not environmentally friendly. I mean, re-use what has been manufactured, play old LPs and cassettes, but please do not make new ones.

I would love if this trend/ interest brings in more to which more stores will make a comeback. Bring the interest to those who nevertheless knew what this experience was like..!!!! I'm 69 years old and I miss those years of searching and the thrill of the hunt..yes the thrill of it all.

There (sadly) are not as much vinyl stores in my city as there used to be. In fact, we only have 1 left. I really hope that these stores last forever now that vinyls are getting "trendy" again. Big thanks for doing what you are doing and may god bless you.

That guy's story about being soothed by Dark Side as a baby is hilarious. I was kind of creeped out by it as a young kid, especially "On The Run."

Love a proper record shop, there's nothing like it apart from that first spin of the gem you've just found and couldn't wait to play.

The guy talking about how Pink Floyd soothed him as a Baby is cute. Reminds me of how i basically got exposed to Depeche Mode when i was really really young (Four maybe five years old). And yes, also heard them on Vinyl first as well.

These stores are almost all gone now, in the city where I live and have grown up we had 2 recordstores (both gone now), 8 videostores (all gone now), 5 bookstores (only 1 left now), a big (3 floors) library and 2 smaller ones (only 1 tiny one room library is left now), 2 arcades (one is gone and the other has transformed into gambling only) and a local youth-center (also gone now). Makes me sad knowing culturally interested young people nowadays don't have all these places to go to anymore and are forced to find everything on their own online instead of going out to these places to browse and interact with local like minded people who can guide them better than any algorithm can.

Brilliant film , my memories of buying vinyl as a kid in Birmingham England are still vivid , Rory Gallagher live in Europe was 1st , Dark Side of the Moon , Close to the Edge , Led Zeppelin IV , all from the original small Virgin Records in Brum . Tiny place with Airplane seats & headphones , in an old Victorian building by the law courts . Happy Days . I'm now in Hawaii , buying collections & visiting thrift stores for my Vinyl Habit . Thanks for uploading your Film.

I was The Sounds manager … they did well in Holland but sadly they weren’t cool enough for the UK. Overshadowed by the Bunnymen. But one of the best live bands you’d ever see !

@@stephenbudd3771 I saw The Sound at Club Lingerie in Hollywood in 84 or 85 .. the brief time they were on A&M. Awesome 👌 show. I worked for an import distributor & we sold loads of the 3 Korova albums particularly From The Lions Mouth. I saw a dark wave band from Italy called Ash Code who are fairly popular & cover I Can't Escape Myself .. The YT clip of that song has over 6 Million views !

Nice film! Thank you for making it! I feel sad for those people that don't own some records and a record player. Can't imagine what it would be like to only live with streamed music. But like Mr Klaus Schwab says "you WILL own nothing and be happy!" But, what happens if Apple or Spotify turn off their servers because electricity becomes too expensive for their business model to still be profitable? It seems a bit crazy having big server centres full of storage drives for you to stream music as and when you want it. I know it's convenient but to me... doesn't make scene.

Exactly what I'm thinking as well. I want physical copies of music. I don't like the idea of big tech being the gatekeeper of what I can listen to, or deciding if I can listen to anything at all.

There is a sadness to this documentary. People reminiscing about childhood etc. I'm in my sixties now, and sometimes i like to put music on and think about things from the past. I'm listening to the Beach Boys album Pet Sounds from 1966 as I'm sending this message , and thinking about my school days back then.
