Beautiful technique! I can't always get a sweep or back take and bigger folks just kinda crush me

This is awesome. I use “octopus” or “squid” from there all the time. I love the truck to the calf crusher. New move time. Thanks sir. Awesome tech.

What stops him posting with his hands?
@10thPlanetBathNY4 ай бұрын
Yes, that can definitely happen if you pull him straight back rather than to the side. If he does base, insert your left butterfly hook, withdraw your right leg and start to take the back. Hip bump sweep opportunities are also there and the entire octopus guard game.
@KellenChase4 ай бұрын
You go for the far hip instead of the lat on the octopus. Is that distinction because of the truck adjustment and economy or movement there or is there another reason for that in the octopus guard setup?
@10thPlanetBathNY4 ай бұрын
Yup, just like you said, I want to control the hip specifically for control going into the truck.

Interesting. Probably because Eddie came from a wrestling background, a lot of the tenth planet stuff looks like catch wrestling.

Wish you did an at speed demo with instructions. The way you did this was too slow, and then the reply is too fast with no instructions… nice ideas with this but need to be faster with the instructions

It's the octopus guard.. yes It works

@@whittazhau 😂 from half guard playing knee shield yes. Guy just gonna change up his hips, put lat in your face, place right hand to left hip and move 45 degrees. As I said I’m sure it works really well on black belts..🙈
@Ardeng222 ай бұрын
@@marcovaleriototicchi7977 come on man..please try from side control bottom and see how it works out for you…the guy isn’t gonna be stationary on both knees..Half guard knee shield to octopus is far more high percentage. This is just selling hopium to guys who have bad guards and get passed all the time. 🙅♂️

If he bases out like that it means he has zero knee elbow connection and you should be able to find your way out of side control.

Is that position on top of his chest just prior to Triangle called Cleveland Steamer or something to that effect?
@10thPlanetBathNY4 ай бұрын
@maniot yes, pull behind the head with both hands as you hip in to finish the Cleveland Steamer. It's a fun one, but of course the triangle is more reliable.

Oooh I like that. Also the whole vid was so well done! Question: can Russian Cowboy also be locking up both Legs from Reverse Mount/ Russian Cowboy position?
@10thPlanetBathNY5 ай бұрын
@maniot Glad you liked it! Yes, this happens a lot when you settle in Russian Cowboy, and your opponent immediately crosses their ankles to try to prevent you from splitting the legs and taking the knee bar. When this happens, deephook both legs at the knees fall to the side into the double knee bar.

Just to give some lore: That lockdown is also called a scorpion. Thanks for teaching one of my most high percentage/favorite submissions. I’ve had dudes tell me they’ve never felt so vulnerable from half guard.
