Considering this one was the first OG tunnel to get renovated, I wonder how long the Austin Hwy and San Pedro locations will go on with the original Sonny equipment.

I think it may be maybe 2-3 more years before this (among others) possibly will get the Surfline treatment. My theory to why most of the older ProTouch units are still at select HEB's are due to the fact that they have the variants made after 2018, so they would have the lava falls system to bring them up to modern standards.

I do fear that a ChoiceWash replacement is inevitable for this, but I just don't know when/if.

Oh yes, and when I make a trip back there, I'm definitely going to try scouting out those 4000's still in service.

On the contrary, the wash bay is managed by Fischer, it's just the convenience store is still Pit Stop (Food Mart).

Right, they have interesting machines and on top of that they salvage the vintage ryko blowers.

Yeah, this has a LOT of mileage on it since it was first put in. It does have a little bit of programming bugs as it's aging (in fact, the other side was glowing red as well, but at least the gantry overhead was accurate), but it does manage to get the job done at least. I like how it's old enough to have the older gantry graphics before they updated it (and not just other HEB locations that special order them with custom graphics exclusive to them) in possible 2020 or late 2019.

@LoneStarCarWashes-dc3er well at least it did a good job for you also heb really needs to maintain their bays and machines better cause a clean car wash bay and the bridges make people come back I'm not a car wash owner but I just know I would want it looking good so it makes me look good and people will come back

@user-sr5tl7vu2z Yeah, there was this location at 5770 w loop1604 in San Antonio and at 7004 s Zarzamora st also in San Antonio both of those locations had two bays as well both locations closed up one bay and now only have one open

I actually didn't tag that, KZbin/Google did, but now I do want to check those locations out, especially the New Braunfels one.

I do remember some Corner Stores (even into the Circle K buyout before the big ChoiceWash replacement) used some regular 360's with off board Max Air dryers.

This tunnel needs some serious repairs, or better yet, a total overhaul.

Nice, I'm guessing that's why they never added dryers to that 4000 before this Razor replaced it.

I'm amazed it's still there, and not been replaced by a Razor by this point unlike the other site on Knox St that replaced its dryerless Laserwash 4000 with a newer Razor.

For now, but now that more Fischer's Neighborhood Market sites are popping up (primarily in the Texas hill country), we'll probably see more of these, and maybe I'll see if I can film them in future.

Considering this machine was Ryko's big break into the touch free market, this did give impressive performance. And yeah, Slimline Dryers usually do a better job when all the nozzles are rotating together.
