I forgot how amazing this song is, my band practiced it some last year but never ended up playing it for a concert in favor of playing Angles In the Architecture instead, hopefully we will play it this year

This is most likely Keith Wilson's transcription. I had the honor of playing this piece in a regional band in high school under Wilson's direction back in 1975.

A masterpiece that shows clear, delicate sound. At the beginning resembles a rapid-fire attack with fierce eighth notes and a beautiful, yet ominous voice of the mighty Low Brass. A beautiful composition, especially when the high woodwinds give a nice, round and high voice that dominates the deep voices. Overall, a superior rating for the Wilmington Symphonic Bands! Keep on going kiddos!

Absolutely beautifully done. The first time I heard this piece played was by the students at Cazadero Music Camp, in California. It brought tears to my eyes then, and brings tears to my eyes now. Thank you.

As a budding young college student, instrumental music teacher, symphony performer, and adjudicator for over 30-years, I never get tired of hearing this masterpiece. I feel that the 1st Scottish Dance could have maybe been performed a little faster, but I can understand the conductor's position. However, overall very expressive. BRAVO!!! -- BS

Very well done. Played it on tuba in 1978 UT Austin Symphonic band - 160 players who played well. It was impressive. I think it calls for antiphonal brass (optional) and we had 40 in the LBJ concert hall.

I absolutely love Yosemite Autumn. I played trumpet for 5 years then switched to french horn due to the lack of horn players. I had only played french horn for one full year prior to getting this arrangement. I was first chair while playing this arrangement senior year of highschool. There was only one other French horn player and I was absolutely nervous to play all the solos especially the one starting the piece, but listening to it now I never truely realized how lengthy this arrangement was.

I've played this arrangement of The SSB, but I don't recall the trumpet solo. Was this written, added, or improvised. It sounds like it was slightly taken from the Bill Moffit arrangement.

Thee are lovely dances and quite well played here - the first, though, is very tongue-in-cheek (Arnold laughing up his sleeve) and should be less buttoned-up (and a little faster) than here, I think ; the hell-for-leather performances I've heard work better!
