There are lots of things about Mobile that I like; more than I dislike the heat, for sure. There is a lack of good public transport (if you don’t have a car, you’re pretty much stuck. The rain is not as bad as it is in Florida, where I grew up! And I love thunderstorms, too!

My best take on Mobile is....Just don't! I have never had more unseasoned food pretending to be Cajun food than I did the week I spent there. And you want to talk about traffic? 🤣 Go drive Boston, or Chicago, Manhattan or Los Angeles then enjoy your easy to travel city!

Overall, Mobile traffic is like any other city---except for Airport blvd. Too many lights too close together. They stay red for a millineum, but thats not the bad thing. When the light finally DOES turn green, you could grow a beard waiting on people to GO. I find myself chanelling Miranda Priestly---"By all means move at a glacial pace you know how that thrills me".
@Billman6619 күн бұрын
I concur: The killings, traffic, litter and heat/humidity dull the shine of what might be a gem of a city but the first three is about people and, until the hearts and minds of the residents change, there will be no change. The humidity? Well, thank Willis Havilland Carrier for air conditioning.

I'm a born and raised Mobilian here and I agree with nearly everything you said here. I don't believe I've ever had anyone ask me "Are you from here?", but then again I speak with a typical Southern Al accent whereas you seem to have either lost or never had one. So I imagine all those folks asking "Are you from here" really mean to say "You don't sound like you're from here." I'm sure the more west you go, such as Semmes and Wilmer, the more you get asked, and I'm betting Midtown is your homebase. No judgement, I've worked with and for folks in nearly every zipcode, I dearly love the diversity of people who call this place home, whether they started their life experience here or not. ❤

Since Katrina Mobile has gotten worse and worse as far as traffic. Yes there is a lot of litter. The humidity is killer. I have been here 60 years. Mobile, pronounced Mo-beel, used to be wonderful. If I had the money I would move. One of my sons moved to Texas. He loves it. Crime is a lot worse. Mobile is boring.

I’m a Biloxi born. What I hate about it is the beauty of it is gone due to casinos and too many people now. I grew up in the sixties and seventies when it was awesome. No more country side out from DIberville were we used to swim at the rivers and ride dirt bikes. It sucks with crime and drugs. I’m about 35 miles away now in Wiggins.

Why does everyone feel the need to slow going thru the tunnel? As soon as you exit the tunnel, traffic starts flowing normally. You'd think there was a major wreck on the other side or something.
