Do you mind building a video streaming platform like KZbin next?
@indigotechtutorials8 күн бұрын
Hey thanks for the idea I actually already have a video showing how to build a youtube type of app but I would like to create a new series and go into the details of the best features like setting up ads for monetizing, deploying the app to production and storing the files in AWS
@dariancollins97468 күн бұрын
@@indigotechtutorials that is exactly what I was hoping to do for future clients because I have a video monetization agency to help them get off of youtube and these other apps so they can have their own platforms and get paid regularly as well

Why haven't you used the hotwire turbo, that would be a great addition. Thanks.
@indigotechtutorials10 күн бұрын
well technically the app is using Turbo for page navigations which means it can be turned into a turbo native app. Your right I could use turbo to make even more interactive UI and features. The point of the series was to try show how to build the App and I didn't want to try and do too fancy of UI, but I know thats important and people want to see how to make better UI so I will try and make tutorials showcasing the cool features and libaries

Thanks! i really like your videos :) How would you deploy with kamal if you want to use active storage with storage on the vps?
@indigotechtutorials15 күн бұрын
This is a great article that I used to help me get SQLite and active storage to store and persist the data on the disk www.erikminkel.com/2024/01/04/deploy-an-app-kamal-sqlite-activestorage/ It requires creating the folder on the machine and then linking it with the volume command like so volumes: # host path:container path - "/db:/rails/sqlite" - "/storage:/rails/storage" Aslong as your config/environments/production.rb file is using config.active_storage.server = :local It should work great! but be careful with this setup because you will be storing all of the files directly on the machine which could cause issues if you run out of space you will get locked out of the machine

All of these requirements must be met to add funds to your Stripe balance: Your platform is in the US and the connected account receiving the funds either is in the US or has a recipient service agreement. Your platform profile is approved. You can check the status in your settings after completing the platform profile. When adding funds to your balance, best practice is to use a manual payout schedule. If you enable automatic payouts, you can’t control whether the system uses added funds for payouts. You can configure your schedule in your payout settings. The adding to balance wasnt working for me bc stripe wouldnt let me so i looked it up and found out you have to be based in the USA to do it. is there any other way to do this
@indigotechtutorials17 күн бұрын
Thank you for sharing this and I didn't realize that Stripe was limited to the USA and maybe a few other countries. I'm sorry to hear that, well hopefully stripe will add support for your country soon enough. I'm not sure about the regulations so you would probably have to use another payment provider that works better for your country. please connect with me on discord and I would be happy to discuss more and help you find a good solution for your App

I've been programming in PHP for more than 2 decades, now since 6 months ago I'm working with a new project with Rails and I'm superhappy but after watching your video a bit ashamed of how slow I'm still in programming with Rails programming. You're a machine!!
@indigotechtutorials20 күн бұрын
wow man that means a lot thank you for sharing this, thats really cool you've been at it for so long I am fascinated by the history of code and have wanted to learn php just for the fun of it. The truth is I started with Ruby and I discovered how much I love coding and spent so much time doing it, I started back in April 2020 and after 6 months I still felt like a newbie but I was starting to understand the basic concepts of MVC and routing in the app and it felt incredible. I'm sure after you have built many apps you will feel truly skilled with Ruby also and I will keep making videos explaining tricks and things I've picked up over the years

This is pretty cool! Im just starting out and id like to add that users can make playlists with the songs, have a liked songs section and also be a able to skip songs in the audio player. How would i go about tackling these features, do you think?
@indigotechtutorials21 күн бұрын
I would love to make a video showing how to build these features. the spotify series is one I am very passionate about and want to keep improving. but if you have already watched all of the videos you would learn alot of the concepts to build additional features and it mostly just involves creating a model to store data in the backend and controllers to render views and handle the form submissions. For playlists I would create a playlist model that belongs to a user and a joining model to connect the playlist to songs. you can also join my discord channel it might be easier to talk about code there I have helped alot of followers on there.

I do installed latest version of ruby which is 3.3.5 and rails version 7.2.1 I don't know why after running bin/dev server running but tailwind css not getting affected by any changes of my code, should I downgrade the version to yours?
@indigotechtutorialsАй бұрын
That's weird but I have had similar things happen before and usually if your CSS is not updating its because of a static build that somehow got triggered you can fix this by trying to clear the cache try running rails assets:clobber and rails tmp:clear then restart the server and if it says tailwindcss file not found just reload a couple times and it should create the new build
