Hi Martyn my bike years, were old British bikes. I had a BSA Goldstar and I went around with group called The Worthing Mad Dogs. Bikes are great fun and I remember doing a ton up on my old bike. I never would wear goggles, up the point a bee hit in the eye. After that I would wear a split lens, war time set. We also did not wear crash helmets and I remember hitting a car backing out from a pub. We would all talk about crashes at our local bikes cafe. I remember being told aim for the bonnet. I managed to not hit the doors and I remember flying over the bonnet and sliding down a country road. I was lucky as nothing broken but it had cut me through a leather jacket and a cut down denim with no sleeves. I planed on going back to vintage bikes, but a stroke got in the way. A friend of mine used have the vintage bike display up to recent times, on Eastbourne seafront. Another teaches motor bikes, also over Eastbourne, Hastings way.

Nice bike, sounds pucka. We had a DT180 for racing about as 14/15yr olds in local woods and got shot at a few times with salt by local farmer then a brand new DT50 in 86 (about £800 then), Aged 17 in 1987 an RD 125 ex racer so bloody fast, then i rode an RD 250 dropped handlebars for a month or so illegally to get to work and back at Pinewood Studios when they were making Batman 1989. The good Ol' days. 🤣. Cheers, some memories came back there 👍👍

Love that! Getting shot at by the farmer. We had that a few times riding around the fields! Thanks for watching!

they did 465cc & 490cc versions that were fantastic machines, the new redesigned reeds block gave them huge amounts of low-down power, more than any other 2T engine back then, 250cc 400cc were also great machines, all the IT bikes were good,
@Bikes_And_Biscuits3 күн бұрын
Yes you are right. They are great engines! I'm thinking about buying a IT250 next. Do you know the best year/model to buy?

I had the DT175MX as a youth, loved it, but always lusted after an IT.

Me too! IT175s weren't around much when I grew up. The IT175 must have seemed awesome in its day. It still handles really well now.

I had a DT125 LC, but a later model. Was great, took all the abuse I gave it. Never really put a spanner on it. Just a shame you couldn't buy the powervalve kits at the time.
@Bikes_And_BiscuitsАй бұрын
Yes they are very reliable. They used to say if you had a Kawasaki KE, you needed to go riding with a mate with a DT so he could give you a lift home when your KE broke down! Haha. I had a KE125 and it was seriously unreliable. I tried everything I could think of but to no avail. So I sold it! That fixed it !

Nice one Martyn. I had a DT250 for a while. Couldn't really get on with it, so bought ex British Enduro champ Paul Edmondson's RM250 and competed in Enduros for a couple of years. Great fun : open her up and hang on for dear life!
@Bikes_And_BiscuitsАй бұрын
Ah yes! You cant beat an RM250! I had a couple of those. A 1984 and a 1990 version. My mate had a 1986 RM250 and I borrowed it for about 6 months! he just never seemed to want it back. I'll do a few Off road videos soon.

Had an identical one , same colour , still have a yellow C70 with just 3,900 miles.!.The C50 is very capable of course and the original but a bit of a slug, but the C70 & 90 are simply incredible machines that punch well above their weight , especially with Honda quality but my favourite all - rounder is the C70 from the early to mid 1970s.
@Bikes_And_Biscuits2 ай бұрын
Yes the C50 is a bit slow! The C90 is very ridable though. Might try and get a C70 and do a video on that

Haha. Thats great! Thats sounds very similar to what we used to do. We would build bikes from all sorts of parts. We put a RD400 engine in a Yamaha RS125 once and also turned it into an off road bike. That was a bit of beast!
