I have to disagree with a lot of posts here hailing this as the birth of Techno from '79. That accolade surely has to go to Donna Summer's 'I Feel Love' massive global hit produced by Giorgio Moroder in '77. It was intended to sound like the sound of the future coming from her 'I Remember Yesterday' lp which used different dance genres of the past to influence tracks with a 30s jazz feel or a 60s Motown feel all put to the new sound of disco. The final track being ' I Feel Love' with the sound of the computers of the future, heavily influenced by Kraftwerks emerging success giving Disco itself it's first global megahit that you could officially classify as Space Disco. In July '77 it was no 1 for 4 weeks in the UK. In August '77 the French outfit Space carried on the sound with the classic 'Magic Fly' which reached no 2 in the UK. That same month Jean-Michel Jarre, also from France, reached no 4 with 'Oxygene 4', launching his stellar career into electronic music. Moroder himself had a top 20 hit with his classic 'From Here To Eternity' in the September which was another delicious slice of pure Space Disco. Disco had evolved into a new genre by using Synthesizers more than regular orchestras & that's where you can trace electronic dance musics emerging roots back to. In April '78 the UKs Dee D Jackson scored a no 4 hit with 'Automatic Lover', in July '78 France's Cerrone furthered the sound with his monumental no 8 hit 'Supernature' which launched his career into the big league. In '79 artists like Canada's Gino Soccio's emergence & Italy's Celso Valli began having hits with more electronic space disco sounds with material by Tantra (as in this topic & do check out 'Top Shot' for their best imo), Macho's 17 min 'I'm a man' & Passengers 10 min rocking 'Hot Leather' were noteable continuations. The US band Sparks resurfaced in the UK after a 5 years lull with the highly inflential Moroder produced Lp 'No 1 Song In Heaven' becoming the first rock band to successfully be lured into the sound of electronic Disco. New York's Blondie changed their sound with 'Heart Of Glass' & had a no 1 Disco smash also. All of these tracks & many others were responsible for influencing the electronic sound of many new artists going into the 80's as well as continuing the careers of those already mentioned. Patrick Cowley, the man responsible for Sylvesters synth hits in '79, remixed 'i Feel Love' again turning it into a 13 min long megamix & was a hit all over again. I'm so glad I've experienced the changing sounds of dance music across the world in my lifetime but everyone will have their own introduction to an electronic track that blows their mind & feels like it's a new birth but not realising it's been going on for over 50 years now & there's so much to investigate if you make the effort. I hope you've all enjoyed today's music lesson written useing my own experiences & opinion.

@@MichaelSorbello-yo4nl Straight away I'm thinking it could be the brilliant track 'Feelin' Good'/'Delerium' by Francine McGee. 'Delerium' is the instrumental version of the crazy vocal A-side. If this isn't your tune then I'll have to put my thinking cap back on again.
@rsmith7912Ай бұрын
@@MichaelSorbello-yo4nl I will certainly think on Michael. This was a female lead vocalist right? Your description could be one of thousands but I know what it's like when you hear a song but can never find out who it's by. Can I ask where & when exactly were you when you heard it first?

These pieces of music some day will be recognized for their great value. The harmony and orchestration of these ‘songs’ is something that even with all the electronics of today can’t be achieved. Thanks for uploading it.

Just discovered this song on Sirius XM Studio 54. It came at a perfect time as I had to make the toughest decision to send my beloved Zoe cat to the next life. She is no longer suffering and I hope flying high above Katmandu. These lyrics so comforting-thank you for reading this. Please say a prayer. “Come with me Where your spirit and your mind are free. We can fly above the sky In Katmandu Peace of mind We're gonna find in Katmandu Smoke-scented breeze fills the trees And you drift away. Slowly downstream In a dream that goes on and on On forever! Soft winds and sunsets That lead at some mystery Sweet-smelling substances Liberate fantasy. Smoke-scented breeze fills the trees And you drift away. Slowly downstream In a dream that goes on and on On forever! Sweet-smelling substances Liberate fantasy We're together”
