I think the head liner metal rod must have popped out of the plastic clip . Release the head lining above as your head and have a look behind you should see the clip it may have broken . hope this help s

I did and thanks to your video. We were able to replace the strings only problem now is above my head driver side is drooping down. Are there strings to fix that too or did something pop loose? Nothing looks broken. Thank you so much for your help.

Im trying to help my stepfather with this problem. Any tips on how to manually open the roof? The center console lever is no help. Also, do we need to erase fault codes or something to activate it again?

@@Hitdog8601 Hi the best way to get the roof in position is with two people one on the roof button in car and the other at one side of the vehicle watching roof movement to a point you can access draw strings .There are no roof faults with changing draw strings .hope this helps

Hi there if you change your bonnet from an lci to a pre lci you will have to change the bumper to a pre lci as well .hope this answers your question regards

One of my draw strings broke over a year ago. Didn't do a lot of damage when it broke, but I was not about to pay about $1000 to fix it, so I drove around with the top up the entire time. I finally got the nerve up to attempt this repair (I am NOT mechanically inclined). I was either going to fix the roof or sell the car. After about 2 hours (I was very methodical), the job was done and the top works perfectly. Biggest issue was getting the metal end unto the spring. Thanks so much for the video.

You need to create a slack like I did in the video and it then re leases .hope this helps 👍

Many thanks for the video. I just replaced one of the tensioners today but I’d have struggled without the visuals you gave! It’s a fiddly job and my fat fingers ripped the rubber sleeve covering the spring!

Hi Mark, I have just bought a 2011 February BMW 318d but it has no heated seats. We would like to upgrade it to heated seats. If you could give me some advice how to get started, how much it might cost, if the original seats can be converted into heated ones etc. I would really appreciate advice. Thanks.

Hi mate you have two options either buy a set of front seats with heating in them and the same colour .or strip your seat covers off and put new heated seat elements in them ..also you need to check the wiring all ready you do this with your car manual which will tell you if the wireng for heated seats some high speck BMW had them in the loom .I would personally get a pair of second hand seat s in the colour and spec you want or heated and electric seats Hope this gets you started Mark

Hi there you have to open roof to access draw stings .if your roof has failed I'm not sure weather you can manually open roof .There may be a way to manually crank open roof to access strings .A specialist might know or it might be in the BMW work shop manual hope this helps

Thank you for posting this video. I think it’s the only one of its kind still after all these years. I’m not very handy, but was able to buy the oem part on Amazon for $20, then make the change myself. I changed both sides since one side was broken and the other was fraying on my 2013. I feel like I won the lottery. Like someone else said, the hardest part was trying to figure out how to get the first metal loop off the spring. Once figured out, the second was a snap

Glad to have helped .To show people how to Retro fit E93 roof lining draw strings.on a video. The hardest part is sourcing draw strings( part no on this feed ) Now you can sauce them from Amazon too is excellent .Enjoy your open top motoring David regards Mark 👍

Sold car a while ago so can't remember the number .if you look in fuse box there's a card with all the numbers for fuse to seats ect and fuse amp size hope this helps

Was that the standard or cold startup? I have a V5 57 and it sounds just like that when it’s on the cold start function.

Thank you! At first and second viewing, the video was a little intimidating, but it covered everything we needed to do. Fortunately, only one one tension string was broken. The other was badly frayed and ready to break. Having one working string made for great comparison (running back and forth double checking) especially with the video as guidance. Parts: $25 USD + Labor: $0. b/t/w Package contained two (2) tension strings. 2007 328i (first year of E93)

This video is amazing. I have a question about my 2007 e93 335i. The tensioning chords make a loud squeak when closing the top, in the last sequence where the final piece lunges forward towards the latch. Is there any anti-friction lube or some kind of treatment I can use to eliminate the squeak and prolong their life?

I noticed my wife's car had the drawstring broken this morning! Major points scored with her for being able to fix this without yet another drip to our BMW guys.... She loves her 2007 328i, but with 137,000 miles it always seems to be in the shop.... When buying the tension rope did it come with 2 or did you have to buy 2 ropes for both sides of the vehicle? (Mines has snapped on both sides.)

Sounds like nothing you have done would have a guess a relay in connection with dipped lights might be a problem

Yes Peter you use the same wires that I used .check previous comments what pins to piggy back from on rear light wires .it also brings the 3 orange side lights up .hope this helps

HI I SPLICED INTO POWER WIRE OF PIN 6 AND SPLIT SO 6 AND 7 HAD POWER OR THE OTHER WAY ROUND WHICH EVER ONE S MISSING FROM YOUR CAR THEN ATTACHED BACK INTO REAR PLUG OF YOUR NEW FACE LIFT LIGHTS AND 3 ORANGE LIGHTS WORK ,YOU MAY HAVE TO BUY SPAD FITTINGS FROM BMW OR CUT WIRES OUT OF A BMW AT BREAKERS, SO BASICALLY YOUR ORANGE LIGHTS RUN OFF EYE BROW WIRES REGARDS MARK
