I saw recently where Quincy Jones passed and the article stated he said Elvis was a racist.. This false information should be addressed by someone....It's devastating to Elvis .....😢....The news media is actually printing these articles...We all know Elvis wasn't a racist but people who don't know or easily to assume what is printed is true... Someone needs to seriously address this issue...I personally believe people say these things out of true jealousy.... Elvis would be devastated 😭 💔

I am a nurse and i worked in a pain management office for 10 years, and I don’t think we need to take an either/or view of Elvis but a both/and. Elvis had severe health problems, he sought the help of doctors and medical professionals, he received very strong medications(all they had available at the time), and he was physically dependent on them. Both his real health problems and the cycle of taking drugs that caused dependency, and the need for higher doses for the same effect the longer you were on them, caused Elvis to have a continual cycle of hyperanalgesia which requires then tapering off all meds and resetting your central nervous system-today we do this with a ketamine infusion. Dr Nick was just at the cusp of understanding pain management. At the time, we didn’t offer epidural steroid injections for back pain, massages, physical therapy, or intense pain management programs. I think Elvis spiraled and did get more meds from other doctors when he experienced the hyper-analgesia which is unavoidable when on long term pain meds but not understood at the time. There is a difference in the medical work of physical dependency and “addiction”, or psychological dependency where you take meds not for their pain relief but for the feeling of euphoria. Elvis may have experienced both--chronic pain is a VERY difficult and complex physical health problem to treat and often has elements of mental and spiritual health mixed in with it. People do best if they also receive counseling while dealing with their chronic pain-Elvis did not receive this important element of therapy. I believe they also found that he had hyper-gammaglobulemia which is an autoimmune disease and would have caused him to be susceptible to infection, as well. He was a man-like all of us-with strengths and weaknesses. And according to Dr. Nick he needed a colon resection but that was cutting edge at the time and might have required a colostomy-not sure Elvis would have gone for that🤷‍♀️. The point is, he was a man with an extraordinary gift that has blessed us all--and we can continue to enjoy the gift he was, while recognizing he was a man who had strength ma and weaknesses managing a life that no one had experienced up to that time and some things he managed well, and some he didn’t, but we can discuss him with the respect and understanding we would all want if it were us.

His cousin Billy Smith spent the day with him playing racquetball and then he sung 2 songs, Blue eyes crying in the rain and unchained melody before he went up to talk to him for a while. He was worried about his tour, and he wanted to make sure it was good for all of us fans Then he went to bed

Good information with one addition. Elvis had congenital acute insomnia. He couldn't sleep more than 5 hours a night. He stayed awake 72 hours when dr. Nick tried to get Elvis off his sleep medication. Maybe today he could have been helped with sleep therapy. Elvis was a very sensitive person, who was easily upset and worried a lot. I personally think Elvis had so much stress (=cortisol) in the last years of his life that he developed Cushings syndrome which causes bellyfat, bloated face, weak muscles (heart!) etc. He must also have had infections throughout his body due to the 19 kg of calcified stool he had in his colon when he died; a congenital problem inherited from the Presley-family. Why was Elvis so stressed? Maybe because of Priscilla's incessant financial claims and the $500.000,- she claimed in 1975? The lien Priscilla put on Graceland in April 1977? Elvis Presley was also very stressed by the publication of the tell-all book of Red & Sonny West and Dave Hebler which came out ten days before Elvis' death. Elvis must have been very worried about the reactions of his fans and the general public. That was probably the reason he couldn't sleep the night/morning before the start of his new tour.

We never would have had to have that discussion if it wasn't for Red, Sonny and Hebler getting mad at Elvis and writing the book that turned the public against him. Funny how their perception of him changed over the years. I have just re-read the book 'Elvis what happened' and after watching all the talk shows and documentaries they have done over the years praising him with tears streaming down their cheeks, their meanness completely blew my mind! A large part of the medicine that Elvis surrounded himself with was not for himself, but the travel pharmacy he had with him, so that he was at all times able to treat the things that might arise, both with himself and the many people he was responsible for. I'm sure there was also medicine such as regular painkillers and antibiotics, plasters etc. in the bag, but it wasn't interesting! In this connection, it is interesting that Elvis did not have his medication with him. The night before he died, as far as I remember, it was his stepbrother Stanley who came up with the measured medicine for the night, both when Elvis went to bed and later, when he needed more, to be able to calm down. If Elvis was what we understand by an 'addict' he would not have left it to others to handle his medication! There is no doubt that he was dependent on the medication he was given, because that is the case with several of the preparations Elvis had to take in order to be able to go on stage at all. Of course the consumption has increased over time, as the effect wears off over time, but Elvis would not have been able to go on stage without it, and there were a lot of people who depended on a pay check, so he didn't feel he had a choice!

Thank you for your comment. I never read the book Red, Sonny and Dave published. I can hardly stand listening and watching the MM-members: Red, Sonny, Lamar, Marty, Jerry, Esposito, Billy S., cousin Billy, Dave, Charlie, etc. I agree with you that they are big hypocrites, who call themselves "friends" but in reality ab lused Elvis as their free mealticket before and after his death. Real friends do not publicly badmouth, humiliate and smear you; dead or alive. Red, Sonny and Dave were mean traitors but I think their tears are real. They cry because daddy Elvis isn't there anymore to finance their livelihood.

@vibekes2416 True. I think Charlie Hodge was one of the few members of the MM, who didn't publicly badmouth Elvis. I learned from Ginger's book that Charlie could have said negative things about Elvis but, as far as I know, he didn't. I think Charlie respected Elvis too much because he was on stage with Elvis for many years and knew how hard Elvis had to work during his shows. Hodge worked in a band during Elvis' Hollywood years because he didn't like hanging around on filmsets.

I doubt Elvis took all those medications at the same time. He read the Physicians Desk Reference so he was well versed about medications. Dr Tennant is an amazing pain specialist, I'm on his Facebook page. I'm going to see if I can talk with him or another family member. Elvis suffered greatly and along with what has been mentioned I believe he had bone cancer, which is the most painful cancer one can have. He wanted to perform as long as he could, only 3 people, besides his Dr's and nurse knew about his medical condition. Maybe some will come forward now that it's become public knowledge. Maybe because of social media people are getting the real story because it's been said years ago.

Hey listen just telling facts. Besides that, those medication as mentioned in the video where strong a could lead to addiction. So could it be that because of that he abused medications? My point of view is if there is actual proof, well than that’s what it is and even then I won’t judge. But there isn’t proof of he abused medications. So I am only telling what is proven. But again if you can actually prove me wrong, then I will admit you where right. and please stay respectful each other. And I am sorry to hear what you went thru. But that’s the whole point isn’t it? You can’t even imagine what he was been thru, the stress, performing multiple times a day, day after day, being the most famous person on the planet. How could we even know how much meds he needed… you never stood in that man shoes…

Grazie ancora e saluti
