Reminds me of lying on the floor by the radio with an alba tape recorder, fingers on record/pause trying to tape songs when the dj talking stops😊 usually Uncle John Peel 10pm. Wouldnt swap growing up late 70s/80s for today. Still got Undertones LP on vinyl

Goes to show that people don't actually appreciate Prince's music as much as they appreciate appreciating Prince outside the musical context. edit: because this video is 6 years old and has 25k views. Love this song it's my favorite song by Prince

They played back to back nights at the Whiskey. Bought tickets for the 2nd night for my girlfriend Rita and I. Then, before they hit town, Paula Pierce (pre-Pandoras) asked me if I wanted to go to the 1st night. Shhh, don't tell Rita. The Undertones were great. Here, it is 44 years later. Rita is out of my life, unfortunately. Paula is gone (Note: Don't laugh at your ex-boyfriend or girlfriend if they have a heart attack in their late 20's, you may be stricken in your late 20s, too. She didn't make it, but Jeff did). I'm still around, and to this day, I love The Undertones. Many people missed them completely. I've turned some friends onto them, and they love The Undertones also.

Pop perfection. They played two consecutive nights at Belfast's Harp Bar in 1978. Easily the best band to ever play the place. The local macho oi punk crew were decidedly unhappy, even before they played, knowing that their local, Belfast, bands were about to be easily eclipsed.

Gonna love you like the Boston Strangler Gonna love you like a teenage danger I been lonely since my last addiction And you got me like a DT vision The ABCs just get away from me I hang myself outside your home I'm nervous that my face is fucking up the sunshine And this life's making me a runaway Stay away, stay away! Gonna love you like the Boston Strangler Gonna love you like a teenage danger I been lonely since my last addiction And you got me like a DT vision The Death Reich kids are gonna fuck with me The drunks and horn-rim gals on meth The boys in San Jose, too nazi'd-out to bother And this life's making me a runaway Stay away, stay away! Stay away, stay away! Stay away, stay away! Stay away, stay away! _Stay away, stay away!_ I shouldn't bother _Stay away, stay away!_ You're six feet under _Stay away, stay away!_ Why should I bother? _Stay away, stay away!_ You're six feet under _Stay away, stay away!_

Still one of my favorite songs ever!! I miss being a kid and raiding my best friends older sisters record collection of punk rock, pop punk and new wave! In retrospect I feel bad because he’d always get beat up by her if she realized that we were listening to them but I was hooked on stuff like The Stooges, The Undertones, The Clash, Elvis Costello, Squeeze, etc . It was the evolution of my musical identity! I still listened to all my parents music which was very well rounded from Rock,Soul, Blues, Country. I inherited those tastes but this was my own
