Hello Skip The dowload link for your Ultimate Thick Paint pack seems to be broken. Is there any other way I can have your brushes from this latest pack? I have Bristly Dabs, and I just love them! Thank you

it would be much more useful to control the thickness of the paint with a single setting for each brush

Found a bug where the Reset Tool button quickly loses focus as soon as the cursor rises from its lower border closer to the middle of the button. This does not happen with the other buttons and does not seem to be done on purpose.

The super frustrating aspect to making seamless patterns in Painter, is that you can only create very "regimented" grid repeats. You cannot create drop/brick staggered repeats, so it doesnt matter how organic and free flowing your drawing is, when you create your pattern, Painter will always put that pattern into a very obvious looking gridded symmetry tiled repeat. Offsetting the tile using bias is absolutely pointless - as this function can only be used after the tile is created, so consequently when you offset the tile it breaks the pattern (obviously). It is really annoying that the offset function cannot be used live as you draw, in order to create seamless repeats that are indeed offset from the original motifs drawn. It seems like such a basic oversight on Corel's part not to understand this. In illustrator, creating repeat patterns is a beautifully straight forward process, and you can see a whole variety of tiled options (staggered, bricked etc) on the fly as you draw. I really wish someone at Corel would tell them how a small tweak to their pattern functionality would make it 100% better.

Skip, you've done a great job, at first I was overwhelmed to figure it out but by the time I experimented on my own in my ignorance and later went back to your tutorials I got the dynamics very clearly that I wondered why could I not got it first hand 😀, thanks Skip, without these shortcuts I don't think artists can win the time. You're a great teacher 👏👏👏

Hi skip, appreciate your instruction. I recently discovered you and I’m thankful I did. Corel offer so much but can be complicated to get good results and everyone else seems to want to monetize getting help. My question for you is I notice you work a lot with textures and I want to know when you go to print for hanging paintings do you still use these textures and how it works in printing if your printing onto a textured paper or canvas
@SkipAllen
@SkipAllen 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Lois, I am glad you are enjoying my videos. I am not sure I can be much help here. I rarely print. I don't sell my work. If I was going to print, I would decide on the printing paper first and then use my textures accordingly. I would run a couple of test samples and see how they look. Adjust if needed. Hope this helps. Don't forget to check out my blog...skipallenpaints.com/.

Hi Skip ...love your videos...and love Painter ...i subscribed on your blog, got the email confirmation, but when click on the download links in the email, it acts like it's going to open a page, then goes back to the links page in the email and the same happens from your blogsite, so I have not been able to download any brush sets. Im on a MacBook Pro 2010...and usually pretty good at downloading stuff...what do you think i'm doing wrong ?

@@SkipAllen Hi Skip, been enjoying your brushes and videos...so much delightful expertise to absorb. Thank you for sharing it with us. I was wondering about some differences in the way the brushes ( like Suminagashi ) work with my Wacom 1....i'm new with a tablet ...it seems like the brush is smaller when applied with the Wacom than it is when just using my macbook touchpad....is this an incompatability issue or do i need to upgrade the tablet or the pen....what is your advice ? Thanks, Chris....btw it does this on both 2015 and 2020

I'm a little late to the Painter party, but i found this to be extremely useful. Thank you! Is there any way in Painter to get multiple colours on a brush at the same time?
@SkipAllen
@SkipAllen 3 жыл бұрын
@@vitmedia Hey...there are certain types of brushes that use Sample Multiple Colors...not all brushes can use it. I can't remember what I said in the videos, so I am not sure I told which variants can use Sample Multiple Colors. If you go to Menu > Window > Brush Control Panel > General Brush Control and look at the first drop down menu called Dab Types. You will see a list of all Dab Types. If the dab type has Camel Hair, Flat, Bristle Spray, Artists Oils, Thick Paint Bristle, or Thick Paint Knife in the Dab Type, the variant can use Sample Multiple Color. The only exception are the liquid inks. Liquid ink Camel Hair, Liquid ink flat, and Liquid ink Bristle spray will not use Sample Multiple Colors. I hope you enjoy the rest of the videos. Even though they are old, Painter works with these variants the same way today.

@SkipAllen

It is always best to describe what you have tried to do that wasn't successful. It helps me know how to answer your question. Steps to download and install variants from my blog. 1. Click on the red text, Skip's Ultimate Thick Paint brush Category. It will be automatically downloaded to your computer. 2. Open Painter. Go to Menu > Brushes > Import > Brush Category and then navigate to your downloaded file and select it. Painter will automatically install the category in the currently active Brush Library. Hope this helps.
